Kira's POV
My head ached. My eyelids felt unbelievably heavy as I tried to open them. So in turn I didn't, trying to let exhaustion pull me back into it's clutches. Unfortunately it didn't work. As I finally remembered what had happened before I fell asleep. Black Eyes and his cronies, the run through the city, my sister, and being knocked out by Green Bean.
I felt my heart begin to race and cold sweat begin to break out across my body. What had happened after Green Bean knocked me out? I kept my eyes shut, trying to give off the appearance that I was still sleeping. I could tell I was lying in a nice bed. The sheets had a silken texture to them as I knotted my tense fists into them. The pillow was unbelievably soft beneath my head, but it was the last thing I wanted to focus on. I steadied my rapid breathing as much as possible before slowly opening my eyes.
I swore softly as I blinked my eyes repeatedly, the bright light burning them. When I finally regained my sight back I sat up and studied the room I was in. The bed I was lying in was at least a queen sized mattress adorned with red silken sheets and a maroon comforter. The room itself was crafted out of cedar wood with a maroon rug covering the floor. There was a cedar vanity, a cedar chest at the foot of the bed, a bookshelf, nightstand, and a desk. There were 3 doors, one on the right wall, and two on the wall across from the bed. The left wall had several windows a painting and the desk was positioned under it.
I pulled myself from the bed silently noticing I was wearing a silken black tank top with matching shorts. Definitely not what I was wearing when Green Bean knocked me out. So who the hell had changed me? The nightstand was on the right side of the bed so I knelt in front of it and opened the top drawer silently. Nothing. It was empty which brought a frown to my face. Moving to the bottom drawer I also found nothing. Standing and studying the top of the nightstand I found a black ornate lamp with a maroon shade.
Walking about 10 feet to the door on the right side of the room I studied it. I couldn't tell the purpose of the door whether it led to a room off of this one, or into a hallway. I leaned my ear against the door and closed my eyes. Nothing I couldn't hear anything outside this door. I weighed my options deciding it might be in my best interest to at least open the door a crack.
I set my left hand upon the cold black metal knob. Steeling myself I turned it silently to the right as far as it would go. Then I pushed the door open just enough so I could see out. I was created with a long ornate cedar hallway with several other doors. Since I had no interest in finding out who lived here I quickly and silently pulled the door shut again.
I silently walked to the cedar chest at the foot of the bed and pulled it open. Inside were extra sheets, an extra blanket, and extra curtains for the windows They might come in use later if I needed to climb out a window. The thought alone brought a evil smirk to my face. Rising I walked to the bookshelf finding titles that I would normally find in Reign. Nothing to help tell me where I was at. Except...
I reached for a book in the bottom left hand corner that seemed different from the rest. It was a large leather bound tome. Black in color with pages that were yellowed with age it seemed different from the rest of the books. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I studied the title written in a language unknown to me, it read Cyfaint y Cythreuliaid. I could only wonder what it meant as I flipped the tome open. The pages crinkled as I flipped through them, and they smelled of mold, dust, and old age. I frowned in annoyance realizing that I couldn't read any of the book. It was inscribed in the same odd language as the title, with old archaic drawings I couldn't understand. I just put the book back on the shelf vowing to come back to it later.
I walked to the left of the bookshelf finding myself faced with another door. I repeated the same process as the first door with this one. Instead finding myself inside a lavish bathroom. With a larch vanity, a shower, a towel closet, and a large bathtub. As much as I need a shower I decided to explore the rest of the bedroom first. Exiting the bathroom I continued to the left and found another door. Opening it without the hassle this time I found myself in a walk-in closet. It had many different articles of clothing in it, and I didn't bother spending my time looking through them.
Ten minutes later I found myself back on the bed finding nothing of interest in the vanity or desk. I also looked through the curtains outside. Of course I didn't recognize my surroundings or find any other civilization. I just learned that I was on the second floor of what seemed like a lavish cedar cabin type structure. In the end I decided to shower and find some clothes other than the silken pajamas just in case whoever owned this cabin decided to pay me a visit. In that circumstance I thought to myself that heavy metal lamp on the nightstand would make a very good weapon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After my shower I found a pair of black leggings and a maroon tank top that seemed to fit well enough. I braided my wet hair back and sat on the middle of the bed, pulling my knees to my chest with a sigh. I was trying to keep my composure, but I missed my familiar home so much. I even missed that stubborn, annoying betrothed of mine. And deep down I had to admit that I was scared. I had no idea what situation I was truly in and that scared me. I had always been reckless, but the thing was... My reckless had never led to my capture before, and while everything seemed quiet and peaceful now I had no idea how long it would last.
Knock Knock
Let's just say I have never felt more scared in my life then when someone knocked on the door leading into the hallway. My mouth went dry, and if I looked into the vanity I was sure my face would be pale as a ghost. I whipped my head around looking for something to use as a weapon.Yes I may have locked the door, but I was sure that whoever was knocking probably had a key. I quickly set my face into a look of neutrality, deciding that my fists and feet were the best weapons I had. Now I waited staring at that door waiting for whoever was on the other side to come in and decide my fate.
The locked clicked open with sound that I felt in my bones. That caused my very self to flinch. I wasn't used to this feeling of weakness, and I sure as hell didn't like it. When the door swung open I was expecting perhaps Green Bean, Pinky, Navy, or Black Eyes to enter. I sure as hell wasn't expecting a red haired woman to walk in.
She was on the shorter side. Of course, not as short as me. Perhaps around 5'5 or 5'6. She had a warm ivory skin tone and a somewhat curvy figure. She had stunning red hair that reached about halfway down her back, and it just had the slightest curl to it. She had doe like eyes with long eyelashes. Her eyes themselves caught me off guard as they were a unnatural emerald green. Her lips were colored a ruby red, and she had freckles sprinkled across her nose. She wore a white shirt, green cardigan, jeans, and brown ankle boots.
"Oh good I'm glad to see you're awake" she said with a peaceful yet relieved smile. Yet I didn't return that smile, no, I just scowled gripping my knees even tighter. I didn't trust that smile. Not one bit. I waited for her to reveal those fangs I knew lurked. To reveal the monster that lurked behind that innocent face. She just c****d her head and studied me.
"My name's Emilia" She said with another one of her sweet smiles. I shot her a baleful glare, and she just looked at me disapprovingly and clicked her tongue.
"Now I don't see any reason that you need to be looking at me like that." She said teasingly. I just snorted before raising my blue eyes to meet her green ones. My temper winning out in that moment.
"Really none at all?" I said condescendingly.
"What have I done to you" She said with an imperious shrug.
"Well for starters you kidnapped me!" I snapped getting fed up with this innocent bullshit of hers.
"Woah, woah, woah I did not kidnap you!" She said crossing her arms over her chest, "So you're going to shut up, sit down, and let me explain just what the hell is going on here."
"Don't tell me what to do" I finally said rising from my spot on the bed. I glared at her as I watched a weird look pass over her face before she turned towards the door. I sighed inwardly in relief thinking that she was leaving, but imagine my surprise when she started talking.
"Go away Laur I'm perfectly fine" I could've sworn her tone sounded hurt as she spoke to some unknown figure.
"I don't trust her" A male voice growled from outside the door. I froze immediately fearing whoever was outside. I couldn't take on a male Demon without a weapon, and I would much rather talk to this female than entertain that male.
"Well for heaven's sake if I was worried about my well-being I would've asked you to escort me in here!" She snapped. I just heard a strong sigh before the sound of feet padding away echoed to me. I didn't relax or become less tense as the woman, Emilia, turned back to me with an annoyed sigh.
"I'm sorry about him he gets on my nerves sometimes too" She said giggling softly, obviously trying to get a reaction out of me. When I didn't reply she just sighed.
"You're a tough crowd" She said with an exhausted expression before walking around my tense standing figure and flopping down upon the bed.
"I don't know who you think you are," I murmured turning to face her, "but I'd really prefer it if you got the hell out"
"Like I said my name's Emilia" she said staring up at me.
"Well Emilia," I said with sickly sweetness pointing to the door "get the hell out!" She huffed what sounded like rude but I really couldn't understand her.
"I'll get out, but I guess you won't know what I was going to tell you" She said standing and brushing invisible dust off her clothes.
I felt torn in that moment. I couldn't decide if it was worth it or not. Did I want to know where I was? Did I want to know who had brought me here? As the Huntress it had always been important to understand a lot of different things around me. I also had to choose an important need to know basis. So I would never give to much away or seem too desperate.
"Wait" I said annoyed just as she was walking out the door. Emilia turned around and shot me a grin that immediately made me rethink my decision to question her.
"I'll answer what I can, but I can't promise everything" She said once again taking a seat on the bed. She patted the spot beside her and I shook my head instead taking the desk chair. I went through the questions in my head deciding what to ask. I chose to ask the question that had been nagging at me, but didn't really have any importance to the situation.
"Are you a Demon?" She studied me with a c****d head for several seconds before bursting out in laughter. I watched with a repulsed expression as she cackled trying to recover.
"No silly!" She said still giggling, "I'm a descendant of one of the extinct Dorlonian witch clans." It made sense almost, with those eyes that were too green to be true, and her unbelievable red hair. I could believe she was a witch's descendant.
"Where am I?" I murmured not taking my eyes off the witch in front of me.
"I can't tell you that" She said softly, almost forlornly.
"The men who brought me here?" I questioned softly. This was the question that scared me the most. I never wanted to see those men in my life ever again.
"Here. This house does belong to them" She said nonchalantly. I just inhaled sharply feeling that fear strike deep within me again.
"How many people live here?"
"Well normally 8 but some come and go it just depends on the night"
Knock Knock
I startled at the knock on the door while Emilia just heaved an over exaggerated sigh.
"I swear to the gods Laur if it's you again" She said pointedly staring at the door. When the door opened I wasn't sure I was breathing properly. The man that entered with a sheepish expression I knew well, Navy, or Laur, I suppose.
"There's a meeting in the study and I wanted to know if you'd like to join us" His deep voice was directed towards Emilia not paying the least bit of attention towards me. I just stood up silently and walked towards the bathroom door not wanting to listen to their conversation. Not wanting to see anymore of Navy than I absolutely had to.
"Look Laurent..." She said before going completely silent. The man just let out a cough/laugh, and I froze. I damn well froze my hand halfway to the bathroom doorknob. Recalling something Astefan had told me so many years ago when I first became his High Huntress.
"The eldest High Lord is named Laurent Morei. He is the twin to the King himself, and is closet to the High King."
"Nice going Emilia" He said with a short humorless laugh, as I slowly, so slowly, turned around a neutral expression on my face. Emilia just watched me with a distraught look on her face before turning to Laurent.
"Well it's not my fault! I wouldn't have screwed up if you hadn't come in here!" She yelped looking at me with a pleading expression. I could've sworn something like hurt passed across the High Lords face as my door swung open once again. Revealing the worst possible man for me to see at this point Black Eyes.
"Is there a reason you two are taking so long" He growled crossing his arms over his chest. His faint accent rolling through the room, as Emilia laid back on my bed with a huff.
"Jig's up Lyrion the girl knows who we are" I froze as Navy, Laurent, said that. Black Eyes. No, Lyrion Morei the High King of Demons, drifted his gaze over to me looking my tense body up and down.
I was in a house with the Morei brother's.
It's all that kept running through my head. My head was spinning. My breath short and shallow. I was trying really hard not to scream in the unfairness of it all at this point. Instead I turned and faced the bathroom door feeling all three of their eyes on me.
"I have no interest in this conversation anymore" I murmured walking into the bathroom and slamming the door unreasonably hard behind me.
I took a steadying breath locking the door behind me. I set my back to the door and slid onto my bottom. Pulling my knees to my chest I buried my face in my arms and started to silently sob.
