Chapter 7 Let Me See How You Survive.

678 Words
“Let’s see how you survive,” Harold’s words echoed coldly. Violet rushed up the stairs before they could drag her out. There was one last thing she needed to get. Her heart pounded as she hurried to her room, afraid they might catch her before she found it. Once inside, she slammed the door shut and frantically searched through her wardrobe. Her fingers brushed against a spare pair of glasses, and she quickly snatched them up before continuing her search. Bang! The sudden noise made her flinch. Her heart raced as the banging grew louder, making her even more desperate to find what she was looking for. Bang! Bang! Finally, her trembling fingers found it. Violet clutched the small red gift box to her chest. This was what she had come for. Without hesitation, she slipped the spare glasses and the box into her trouser pocket just as the door crashed open with a deafening bang! “Get out, you evil girl!” Before Violet could react, they grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out roughly. “Get out!” “Let’s see how you survive a day without us!” they sneered. Violet's expression darkened. “I really would,” she replied coldly. “After all, I've never liked living here.” With that, she turned and walked away, leaving the Cooper mansion behind her. The maids on duty had already gathered, whispering among themselves. To them, Violet's sudden departure was just another piece of gossip to share. But once she had walked far enough from the mansion, the reality of her situation finally hit her. She was homeless. Where could she possibly go? Violet reached into her pocket and brought out the little red gift box, hoping it would offer her some comfort. But when she opened it, her heart sank. It was empty. Her fingers trembled as she stared inside. Where was it? She was certain she'd put it there. “No!” she gasped, suddenly remembering something. She slid to the ground, holding her head in her hands as tears welled up in her eyes. She had just been thrown out of her own home, and now she couldn't even find the one thing she treasured most. Then her fingers brushed against something in her pocket. The key card. Violet pulled it out and stared at it for a moment. She had booked the hotel room two nights earlier, when she'd decided to lose her virginity to a man she barely knew. She hadn't expected that night to end the way it had, but the room might still give her somewhere to stay. More importantly, she might find her bracelet there. Violet had worn it that night. It was a diamond bracelet Lily had given her when they were still living in the orphanage. The two girls had been inseparable back then, and the bracelet had become a reminder of the bond they shared. Even after Lily reunited with her family and they lost contact, Violet had continued to treasure it. She often wondered whether Lily was happy with her new family, hoping they treated her well. Clutching the key card, she hurried toward the hotel, holding on to the little hope she had left. When she reached Room 308, she swiped the card and pushed the door open, rushing inside. She hurried to the bedside drawer and pulled it open. Empty. Violet froze. Her throat tightened as she swallowed hard, struggling to accept what she was seeing. The man had taken both the money and the bracelet. Her bracelet. It wasn't an ordinary piece of jewellery. The diamond bracelet bore an ancient inscription, and to Violet, it was worth far more than its price. It was the last precious reminder of Lily and the friendship they'd shared through their difficult days in the orphanage. And now it was gone. Her eyes burned with tears as anger rose in her chest. “How could a man be so greedy?” she whispered bitterly. “As if the money wasn't enough…”
