Shifting back to his human form, Aspen examined Mattie. Blood-stained clothes were on her limp body. Ripping open her shirt, Aspen swallowed hard as he saw the knife injury on her side. The deep knife wound was still bleeding. It was not as deep as it once was, but it wasn’t fully healed. Aspen’s eyes then saw the bullet wound to her chest. “Mattie stay with me. Please.” Tears fell from his face. He couldn’t lose her. The smell of silver caught his nose.
