I’m almost done stuffing my gloves into my bag when a shadow cuts across the bench and a stick taps the floor next to my skate.
Ethan stops in front of me with that same look he had in the hallway, like my entire existence is a show he paid front-row seats for. He leans on his stick and grins like he has been waiting all practice to say whatever is about to come out of his mouth.
“You survived Liam and a private skate with the captain in the same hour. I was taking bets on which one was going to make you swing your fist first, and I am a little disappointed it didn’t happen in front of the Coach.”
