CHAPTER3:A MOMENT OF REFLECTION

295 Words
The bowling alley’s refreshment area was vibrant, filled with laughter and the sounds of bowling balls crashing into pins. But for William Oscar Jr., the lively atmosphere felt distant and muted. He sat at a small table with his best friend, Gabriel, plates of snacks before them untouched. William was visibly distracted, his gaze drifting to the bright lights overhead, his thoughts heavy and clouded. “Come on, man. Let’s take a break from bowling. You need to chill,” Gabriel urged, leaning forward, concern etched on his face. William sighed heavily, pushing his plate away. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m just… tired of all this,” he admitted, resting his head in his hands for a moment. Gabriel studied him closely. “What’s up? You’re supposed to be celebrating. You got your life back!” William’s eyes began to glisten with unshed tears, and he looked up at Gabriel, struggling to find his words. “I just… I just remembered how much I loved her. I gave her everything, my world… everything.” As tears rolled down his cheeks, William felt the weight of his emotions crashing down. Gabriel reached across the table, placing a reassuring hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Hey, hey, it’s okay. You showed her love, but that’s what they call unworthy love. She wasn’t worthy of it, and she’ll never be worthy of it.” William nodded slowly, wiping his tears with the back of his hand. “Yeah, I remember vividly how it all started.” Gabriel watched him with a mix of concern and sympathy, sensing the storm of feelings within his friend. The atmosphere shifted as William’s gaze became distant, and he began to reflect on the past, the memories flooding his mind like a tide.
