Chapter 4 • He Said He Want To Marry Me

1028 Words
Mia stood in front of LMC. She was in awe. The building was huge! Huger than her father's company. She stood for a few minutes, admiring the building. It took her fifteen minutes before realizing she was supposed to go in and meet Levi. Once she remembered, she made her way in, immediately. The receptionist stared at her as if she had missed her way. She was dressed in a plain gown that wasn't even hugging her body. The lady stared with disdain at her. Watching Mia come close to her, she felt even more annoyed. The worst was, she couldn't deny the girl was pretty. "Hello miss, good afternoon." Mia greeted humbly. The receptionist ignored her, and pretended to have files which she was looking at. Mia waited a few seconds, and when she noticed she wasn't going to get any reply, she read the name tag which she wore. "Miss Tasha. I'm here to see Mr. Umm…" she paused to read the card, then looked back up to catch Tasha's annoyed gaze. "Mr. Levi Wyatt." Tasha bursted out into laughter. "You?" She mocked aggressively. "Here to see Mr. Wyatt? Unbelievable. I guess you're also the president's niece." Mia looked down at her attire. "No miss, I met him outside and he said to come find him here and present this to whoever I meet, and his assistant would be waiting for me." Tasha laughed even harder. "Miss, uh… what's your name again?" "Mia Gavin." Mia replied. "Mia… oh. Okay… to believe you, I'll have to call Mr. Levi's assistant and ask if you're supposed to be here." Tasha said. She rang Tom's office and he picked up almost immediately. "Mr. Tom. Good afternoon sir." "Yes, Tasha." "Uh, there's a strange looking lady here. She said Mr. Wyatt asked her to be here. Says her name is uh… what did you call it again?" Tasha asked mockingly. "Mia…" Mia answered slowly. "Mia Gavin." "Yah, she said it's Mia Gavin." Tasha answered. "Is she with a card?" Tom inquired. Levi didn't tell him the name of the woman. "Yeahh. Apparently she didn't even know Mr. Wyatt's name. She had to look at the card." Tom sighed. "I'll be there shortly." Tasha turned to look at the phone. Was he really coming down for the sake of this pauper? "Hm. That's weird. You are telling the truth." Tasha said. "But, if you're here to see our president, why aren't you dressed like it? Are you a house help?" "No." Mia blushed in embarrassment. "I… he asked me to marry him." Tasha stared with mouth wide open. Then she burst into another laughter. She looked at Mia from top to bottom, while she was still laughing. "Mia Gavin. You expect me to believe you're going to marry my boss? I could bet my entire salary on it that you won't." Tasha smirked. "As a matter of fact, let me have your number." "I… I don't have a phone." Mia said shyly. Tasha smirked even wider. She placed her hand on her chest and cooed softly. "Alright…" She took a piece of paper and began to scribble something on it. "Here's mine. When you get a phone, call me." "Okay." Mia accepted the paper. She put it in her shoulder purse. Just about then, Tom alighted the elevator. Tasha pointed her in the direction where Tom stood, waiting for her. Mia quickly made her way to meet Tom. "Good afternoon sir." She greeted warmly. Tom stared at her from head to toe, without responding to her greeting. "I hope she didn't give you a hard time." Was all he said. "Who, Tasha? She was nice." Mia answered with a smile. She didn't know if it was going to serve as a test for Tasha and she didn't want her out of the company. Tom glanced at her from the side of his eyes, and let out a wry chuckle. Once the elevator door opened, he led her out and into Levi's office. Levi didn't look up from his desk, he ignored Mia's presence. Tom didn't stay either, once he took her in, he left and shut the door lightly. Mia stood there, wondering if he was going to ignore her all day. Eventually she would shift from one foot to the other. "Do you enjoy torturing yourself? There are seats yet you choose to stand." Levi said with a tired sigh. He was really determined to ignore the woman until his lawyer came, but why was she standing before him as if he had punished her? "Oh. I was waiting for you to tell me to sit." She answered meekly. Levi glanced at her. Her cheeks were red. Up close, she could really see how handsome he was when there were no tears in her eyes. "I should have ignored you then. It's stupid to see seats and choose to stand." Levi blurted. Mia's cheeks reddened the more, but due to embarrassment. When he was done, and the lawyer hadn't arrived yet, he cleared his throat and decided to at least inform her of the situation of things. At least he knew she couldn't back out, she had taken almost a million dollars from him, and she didn't look like she used it on herself. "Listen. This is not a normal marriage." He began. Mia nodded slowly. "Don't nod like a sheep. I haven't explained anything yet." Mia turned her gaze down to her fingers that lay in her lap. She could feel the tears forming in her eyes again. "Look at me when I'm talking to you. I don't think there's anything new or interesting about the clothes you have on." Mia raised her head up. Levi could see the tears that had formed in her eyes. It irked him more than her presence in general. He frowned. Mia sniffed softly and let out a soft gasp as she did. Levi never felt so embarrassed in his entire life. But, it wasn't just his 850,000$ at stake now. The contract was also at stake, so he had to put up with her. He didn't have time to check other choices.
