Chapter 16: Get Out

1324 Words
"Ms. Emily?" Andrew wasn't in a hurry to jump to any conclusions as he turned his head to look at me gently, "Do you know this gentleman?" "How do I know this woman." Carl couldn't wait to refute Andrew's words, not giving me any chance to speak, in his eyes, I was equal to a bird in a cage, because there were so many people here I had nowhere to run. The gesture was clearly rude, and Andrew frowned. I let myself get lost in the music, my feet tapping softly on the floor, and Carl's voice seemed to just wake me up, pausing for a few seconds as I slowly turned my head to look at him. If anyone who knew me well was there then they would know exactly what I looked like in my current state before I was about to go on stage. I had a teacher who once told me this, that the way I looked before I danced was the same as a crazy actor's neurosis before entering a scene. We really don't have any deep grudges, I don't actually want to screw him over. If he can lie down properly in his cabin room and sleep, all will be well, I don t want to screw him so much at all. I ...... looked at him sadly, with tears coming out of my eyes, with the same kind of feeling as if you were in love with a man. My feet stopped that little motion of knocking on the floor, my hands dropped naturally, my backbone was very straight, and I just turned my head and looked at him with tears completely suppressed, silent and tender. The melody of the violin speaks softly, making me search for that rhythm on stage. Dancers are actors of the body, including eyes and expressions. I'm dancing now, with my eyes. It's about a jilted woman who falls in love with a man. I've choreographed this kind of dance before, and the emotion is like a sharp knife put together with a soft flower, and fire-like power erupts from the tenderness. "Don't you recognize me? Cal." I finally spoke, turning and taking two steps forward, looking at him sadly, my face full of tears. A woman who was in love with a man. The kind of emotion that runs deep into the bone and is as beautiful as the petals of a flower that fades into the palm of your hand. My wrists turned almost uncontrollably, and my feet became habitual of having to stop and support my body's spinning upward motion. All of these little movements were suppressed, I just needed that look now, and with the power of the music I was fast into the scene. Carl looked at me dumbfounded, looking at a monster as if, under his slightly drooping eyelids, the brown pupils of his eyes quivered a few times in disbelief, "How do you ...... you know my name?" A woman, she fell in love with a man. She was abandoned, she faced death. Sudden anger erupted like a volcano, that fierce emotion raging to break my composure, and I suddenly rushed forward, my footsteps so light and fast that no one had time to react back, rushed to Calhokli, and reached out with a hard slap to his face. The slap was so hard that it made a crisp ringing sound, Carl was hit by me to the side of the head, completely confused. His eyes actually revealed a few hints of bewilderment as he stared straight at me in a daze. His hair, which he had just recently fixed, fell out again, and he looked at me with a face full of incomprehensible shock, like a poor puppy. "Uncle says you're getting married, to a young lady named Rose." I said sadly with tears in my eyes, my words full of uncontrollable trembling sobs. "Why did you leave me without a word, do you know how long I waited for you?" It was a kind of mourning. My mind began to dance, my hands stretched backward at the limit upward as if bound to a gallows, the muscles in my arms rippling slightly in a display of angry strength and sorrow, while my fingers fell softly down. At the same time, the eyes were extremely sad and desperate. "Huh?" Carl couldn't even keep up with me for a moment, blinking sluggishly, his hand covering his face, completely unaware of what I was doing. "I'm getting off the boat tomorrow, so you don't have to slander me to protect her, and I won't haunt you or break up your marriage." I reached up and wiped the tears from my face and stared at him with teary eyes, a gaze so deep that it bordered on desperation. "I just wanted to come up and see you again, really, Carl." Tenderly, I whispered his name as if it was as lingering as the last time you'd ever call this man by his first name. Carl looked at me incredulously, his expression indescribably pale and dull. I approached him, walking slowly up to him, and he seemed to take two steps backward a little taken aback. "Do you remember that starry night? You said you wanted to spend your life with me." I looked at him with loving eyes while that sadness lingered. "Spend my life together?" Carl finally snapped back to his senses at the words and remembered he was here to catch a thief. He took several sharp, deep breaths and took his hands off his face and clenched them into fists almost swinging them at me. It was hard to keep his poise, and he looked up and around to find everyone looking at him with a creepy look in their eyes. "Ha, she's a liar, don't let her fool you guys, I don't even know her. Arrest her now, what are you waiting for, I'll file a complaint against you." He finally couldn't hold back his agitation and ordered towards the crew member, but his eyes didn't dare to look at me anymore. That black-uniformed crew member who came up with him looked at him suspiciously and finally couldn't help but ask, "You guys know each other?" "Ghost knows her." He finally couldn't hold back his foul mouth, to hell with any gentlemanly demeanor. "You just have to check her ship ......" Without waiting for him to finish, I had already reached out my hand, seemingly gently but actually very hard to break his head down, then I tilted my head back and kissed him with half-lidded eyes. Blonde curls brushed against his cheek, and that perfume-stained scent of his body instantly blended and intertwined with my breath. I didn't close my eyes, the tears in my eyes hadn't been wiped away yet, blurring the color of his eyes through the clear liquid. It burned and rose as if it were rosemary in full bloom. He stiffened into a statue. Only his body temperature stayed elevated, and his heart began to beat faster, and he didn't know if he was angry or overwhelmed. The kiss lasted a mere three seconds before I withdrew, leaving his lips slightly, our faces so close that we were almost next to each other, and I finally saw the end of this solo dance. "I love you, Cal." It's as if the sun is falling on my face, my smile is so sweetly content, "Bye." Then I pushed him away without hesitation, and Carl Hockley reached out to touch his lips as he asked strangely and eerily, "What ...... what?" I had already covered my mouth with one hand and ran mournfully out the door of the restaurant with my dress in the other, everyone automatically giving me way, including the crew member who had come to arrest me. Behind me, the Londonderry ditty faded, as did my dancing.
