Chapter 2 : Unwanted Marriage

1301 Words
Ava**** Just as I was starting to feel like I was in a real-life horror movie, Tyler appeared out of nowhere, his eyes blazing with anger. "Richard, leave her alone!" he growled, stepping in front of me. Richard's smile faltered for a moment, but then he regained his composure. "Ah, Tyler, always so quick to defend the damsel in distress. But Ava can make her own decisions, can't you, Ava?" His eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Tyler's eyes never left Richard's face. "Ava, get behind me," he whispered. I hesitated for a moment, then obeyed. Tyler's broad shoulders and chest formed a protective barrier between me and Richard's sinister grin. "Leave. Now," Tyler warned, his voice low and even. Richard's smile grew wider, but he backed off, the sedan disappearing into the night like a ghost. Tyler turned to me, his eyes softening. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice full of concern. I nodded, still trying to process the surreal encounter. "What just happened?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Tyler's face hardened. "I don't know, but I'm going to find out." "Ava, I'm sorry you had to see that," Tyler said, his voice laced with a mix of anger and frustration. "My dad... he's not the person he used to be." I placed a hand on his arm, feeling a surge of empathy. "What's going on between you two, Tyler?" I asked, my voice soft. Tyler's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "It's a long story, Ava. But I promise you, I'll protect you from him. Always. Tyler's words were reassuring, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story. As we drove away from the darkness of the night, I couldn't help but wonder what secrets Tyler was hiding. We arrived at his place in silence, the tension between us palpable. Once inside, Tyler turned to me, his eyes searching mine. "Ava, I know you're curious. And I promise to tell you everything soon. But for now, just know that I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe." I nodded, feeling a sense of trust in him that I couldn't explain. Little did I know that the night's events were only the beginning of a dangerous game that would change our lives forever. As the days went by, Tyler's behavior became increasingly erratic. He would disappear for hours without explanation, only to return with a haunted look in his eyes. I tried to push him to open up, but he just shook me off, telling me he was dealing with "family stuff". I knew better than to press him, but my curiosity was eating away at me. One night, I decided to snoop around his room, hoping to find some answers. That's when I stumbled upon a cryptic letter, hidden away in his desk drawer. It was from Richard, and the words made my blood run cold: "You'll pay for what you did, Tyler. And Ava will be the one to make you pay." I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized that I was caught in the middle of a sinister game between father and son. And I had no idea what the rules were. As I recall the event my mind raced back to Richard's offer: "Come work for me, Ava. I'll make you a star." It seemed like a genuine opportunity at the time, but now I wondered if it was all a ploy to get to Tyler. Was I just a pawn in their twisted game? I felt a wave of unease wash over me as I realized that I had almost fallen for Richard's charm. But what did he want from me, really? And what did Tyler's past have to do with it all? I was determined to get to the bottom of it, no matter how dangerous it might be. Little did I know, I was playing with fire, and the consequences would be devastating. Tyler *** I watched Ava from afar, my heart aching with a mix of guilt and fear. I knew she was getting closer to the truth, and I didn't know how much longer I could keep her in the dark. My dad's letter had made it clear: he would stop at nothing to destroy me, and he was using Ava as leverage. I couldn't bear the thought of her getting hurt because of me. But how could I protect her when I was still trying to protect myself? I felt trapped, caught in a web of secrets and lies that threatened to suffocate me. I knew I had to tell Ava the truth, but the weight of my past was crushing me. Could I ever find the strength to reveal it all, or would it be too late? I took a deep breath and approached Ava, my heart racing with anticipation. "Ava, we need to talk," I said, my voice low and serious. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. "What is it, Tyler?" she asked, her voice soft. I hesitated, unsure of how to begin. But I knew I had to be honest with her, no matter how hard it was. "It's about my dad," I started, my voice barely above a whisper. "He's not the person you think he is. He's been manipulating me, using me for his own gain. And now he's using you too." Ava's eyes narrowed, her expression skeptical. "What do you mean?" she pressed on, her voice firm. I took another deep breath, the words spilling out of me like a dam breaking. "He wants to use you to get to me, Ava. He wants to destroy me, and he's willing to do whatever it takes." Ava's eyes widened in shock, her face pale. "What have you done, Tyler?" she whispered, her voice laced with a mix of fear and disappointment. I shook my head, feeling a wave of despair wash over me. "I didn't mean to hurt anyone, Ava. I was just trying to survive." I reached out to her, but she stepped back, her eyes flashing with anger. "Survive? You call this surviving? You're trapped in a web of lies and secrets, Tyler. And now you're dragging me down with you." I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes as tears pricked at the corners. I knew I had hurt her, and I didn't blame her for hating me. But I couldn't give up. I had to make things right, no matter what it took. Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I knew who it was without even looking. My dad. I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Ava's words echoed in my mind: "You're trapped in a web of lies and secrets, Tyler." It was time to face the truth, no matter how painful it was. I took a deep breath and answered the phone, my voice firm. "Dad, I know what you're doing. And I'm not going to let you do it anymore." The line went dead, and I knew that my fate was sealed. But I was ready to fight back, for Ava's sake and mine.
