CHAPTER 09

NORIE'S POV:- I was sitting in the cafe where Oliver and I had become friends. Oliver and I started the police job together. We worked together for years. But Oliver chose to become a private detective and I was offered to work for the government. It was an honor to work for the government. My father's dream that I had followed. But I regretted that decision. The way Mr R.K had used me, I had never imagined Mr R.K could do that to me. I was such a fool to trust him. I should have checked the information. I should have investigated it myself. I knew Angus Rutherford wasn't a clean man but the evidence Mr R.K had provided me against him was false. I had ordered my coffee and was waiting for Oliver to join me soon. It was half past eleven, but Oliver didn't come. At first, I thought maybe he wanted to keep himself away from this mess I got stuck into. "I thought all this drama would have scared you but here you are, ready to fight again." Oliver said and I jumped. I was so drowned into my thoughts that I didn't notice Oliver coming.  "You know me well. Nothing scares me except for that nightmare." I replied. "Yes, I know you very well. But still, you are a human being and we humans get scared." He replied with a teasing smile. "At first, I thought you wouldn't come." I told him honestly. "At first I thought it's better to be away from this mess but I couldn't just leave you alone." He replied. "Thank you Oliver, for being here for me. I don't trust anyone else like I do to you. And after the betrayal I have witnessed, I don't think I would ever be able to trust anyone else in my life ever again." I replied. "I know and I warned you about R.K. I knew he was a snake. I didn't know he would betray you this early." He replied. It was true. Oliver has warned me about Mr R.K, but I thought he wasn't like Mr Simons or the others. "I know. I wish I had listened to you. Now I think it would be better if I had joined you. At least I won't be a criminal right now." I replied in a sad tone. "Anyways, let's talk about business. Why are we here?" He asked me. "Yeah, about that. You and I both know that R.K had planned this against me. But we don't have any proof. But we both also know that every secret meeting he has, he always keeps a record. I want you to find that tape for me. And also the reason why he needed me out and what made him create this much risky plan." I replied. He nodded his head. "What do you mean by risky plan?" He asked. "It was a risky plan. Charging Angus Rutherford with wrong evidence and taking him to jail. Everyone knew Angus would win this election. Also I wouldn't have taken Angus to the court if he hadn't challenged me. What made R.K create a master plan like this?" I replied.  "Okay. I'll do that but I need a favor from you too." He said with a smirk. "Now what do you want?" I asked in an annoyed tone. "I want you to have a fancy dinner with me. Not like friends, but like a couple." He replied. "We will think about it later. Right now, it's better to stay as friends. You don't want your clients to run away from you." I replied and raised an eyebrow. He laughed loudly and shook his head. "You always find a way to say no to me." He replied. "Technically, I didn't say no this time." I replied and winked at him. His laughter died and he looked at me with wide eyes. "Are you saying, you will have a fancy dinner with me?" He asked me. "I said we will see. I neither said yes, nor said no." I replied with a grin. "I should go now, I have a meeting with a client." He replied. We both stood up and hugged each other. We bid our goodbyes, I paid the bill and we both excited the cafe together. "Where is your car?" He asked me. "They also took it away from me. I will walk. Don't worry about me." I replied. He nodded his head and hopped into his car. He drove off and I started walking towards my home. I reached home and went straight to my bedroom. My grandparents weren't home. I went to my room and started packing my bag. I wanted to go back to my home City where I was born. After my parents death, my grandparents moved to Perth with me from Edinburgh. I knew if I told my grandparents that I was going to Edinburgh, they would stop me. I wanted to visit my parents graveyard. I packed a few clothes and shoes with a few more things like toothbrush, perfume and  make up. I took my mobile and my passport. I wrote a letter for my grandparents so they wouldn't be worried about me. I was planning to stay there for a few days. "Hey grandpa.             I know as soon as you read this letter you will be mad at me. But I need to go there. I knew if I told you before I left, you would stop me. That's why I'm going without informing you. I will be back soon. I just need to go to their graves. I just need to get away from here for a while. I hope you won't be mad when I will get back.                                   Love you both.                                                     Norie. I picked up my bag and my wallet and ran back downstairs. I left the letter on the kitchen counter and stepped out of my house. I went to the highway and waited. After a few minutes, a trick was passing from the highway. They stopped seeing me standing. "Ma'am, do you need a ride?" A guy asked me. He was almost my age. Long brown hair and brown eyes. He looked tall. He was with a woman. She was blonde and they both had the same tattoos on their arms. They looked like a couple. I nodded my head. "Okay, Where you want to go?" The woman asked me. "Edinburgh." I replied. "You're lucky, we are going there. He is Jacob and I am Lisa. Hop in." She said. I thanked them both and hopped into the back of the truck. I was tired from too much walking. I decided to take a nap. I laid down and covered my face with the jacket I was wearing. It didn't take me long and I drifted off. I felt like someone tapped on my shoulder. I removed the jacket from my face and looked around. Lisa was staring at me. "We are here. Where do you want to go?" She asked me. I stretched my arms above my head and sat up. "It's okay. I can take car of it. My parents graveyard isn't too far from here. Thanks for the ride." I thanked them again and hopped out of the truck. I pulled some money out of my wallet and offered them. They both shook their heads.  "You can keep it. We are good." They both replied. I bid my goodbyes and started walking. That's all I could remember before darkness engulfed me.
