CHAPTER 02

ANGUS' POV:- I opened my eyes and hit the snooze button on my phone. I crawled out of my bed and made my way to the bathroom. I did my morning business and brushed my teeth. I changed into my workout clothes and stepped out of the bathroom. I went to the kitchen and filled myself a glass with juice. I drank it and stepped out of my mansion, plugging my earphones. Turning on loud music, I started running.  I return back home after an hour. I went to the kitchen to get some water. I was drinking water when someone came from behind and covered my eyes with their palms. I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I knew that the only person who could annoy me like this, was my cousin Umber. "I know it's you Umber. Now stop being a child." I said in an annoyed tone. "Sometimes you scare me." She said and I raised a brow. "Really, I am the one who scares you?" I asked her. "Of course you do. Whenever I think about our future, your behavior with me scares me." She replied.  "Look, I am very happy today. I don't want you to ruin my day and my mood as well. So how about you stop bothering me?" I said rudely and stood up from the chair I was sitting on. "You do that to me every time. I will tell aunt." She said and my anger rose. I grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled them aggressively. "Where did you get the guts to talk to me like this? You are getting out of your limits. Do you want me to punish you again for being a b***h?" I asked. Tears filled in her eyes and she sobbed quietly. "That's right. Next time you disrespect me like this, I won't pull your hair, I will shave them. Understood?" I asked with gritted teeth and she nodded her head. I pushed her away and went back to my bedroom. I shut the door with a loud thud to make sure she wouldn't come to disturb me again.  Umber was my cousin. Her mother died a few years ago and my father promised her mother that he would protect her forever and brought her here at our home. The day Umber was born was the worst day of my life. Because my step mother, who is also my aunt, set me up with her. Since then, Umber has been hell for me. She had to be around me all the time. I have never liked women like her ever in my life.  I was about to enter the bathroom when my phone started ringing. I picked up. "Hello Mr Williams. How are you?" I asked Mr Williams. "I am fine. How are you my boy?" He asked me back. "I am fine. I am pretty excited for the conference." I replied. "I know my boy. I was too when I was younger like you. Don't worry, I know you will blow off their minds." Mr Williams replied. "Thank you for your trust Mr Williams. I promise I won't let you down." I promised him. "I know and you never have. Now let's come to the point. Have you read your speech?" He asked me "Yes, I haven't just read it but memorized it as well." I replied and He laughed. "Boy, you are more than excited about this. I know you won't make any mistakes." He said. "Trust me Mr Williams. Everything is perfect." I replied. "Good. Meet me before the conference. There are some questions the press will ask you today. I want to talk to you about them." He asked me. I looked at the clock. It was 8 in the morning. I still had a lot of time to get ready and have breakfast.  "I will be there early. We can discuss everything." I informed him. "Okay then, see you soon." He said and hung up. I put my phone on my bedside table and went to the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and took a hot shower. I stepped out of the bathroom and went to the closet. I picked my white tuxedo with blue shirt and tie. I wore my clothes and went downstairs. I stepped into the dining hall and pecked my grandmother's forehead. "Where is grandfather?" I asked as soon as I sat on my chair. "He will be here. You start eating, he will join you." My grandmother replied.  "You know I can't without him and I will be late if he didn't come right now." I said angrily.  " Calm down Angus. I am here." My grandfather replied and patted my back. He took his seat and took a bit from my plate. I smiled and started eating. It was our thing. My grandfather always takes the first bite from my plate then I start eating. I live in my mansion with my grandparents. I loved them and they were my family.  I quickly finished my breakfast and pecked my grandmother's cheek. My grandfather also stood up and pulled me into a hug. "I wish you the best and hope you will win." He whispered in my ear and I smiled.  "Thanks G." I replied. I broke the hug, bid my goodbyes and went to my car. I quickly hopped into my car and drove off.  I parked my car in front of my office. I went to the fifth floor where my office was located. I opened the door and found Mr Williams waiting for me. I stepped into the room and he turned to look at me. He stood up from his chair and came to me. "Big day today Angus. Your dreams will soon be in your hands." Mr Williams said and patted my shoulder. "This is all because of you Mr Williams. You are the one who helped me achieve my dreams." I replied with a grateful smile. "I just showed you the path and gave you a chance. You worked so hard and earned your place. I am so proud of you my boy." Mr Williams said. I sat on my seat and he sat on the other chair. We started talking. We discussed some serious issues our citizens were facing. And our plans to get rid of those issues. Then we talked about our future plans. Mr Williams told me the names of a few people who were jealous of me. They thought I was Mr Williams' favorite. That wasn't false, I was his favorite, but because I had worked so hard to earn my place.  I looked at the clock. It was fifty past eleven. Only ten minutes for my conference. Mr Williams and I stood up and stepped out of my office. We went to the ninth floor. I opened the door for Mr Williams. He stepped into the conference Hall and I followed him behind. All the journalists were inside the hall. Mr Williams greeted them all and introduced me to them all. I greeted them all one by one like Mr Williams had greeted them. Mr Williams signalled me and we both went to the stage. The other workers joined us. Some were happy and some were jealous. It was only a minute for us to start the conference when the doors of the conference Hall burst open and a stunning woman stepped into the hall. Guards tried to stop her but she pulled out her card and showed them. They all stepped back and she came straight to the stage. He looked straight into my eyes and picked up a microphone from the desk. "I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen, but Angus Rutherford can not answer your questions tonight. Because Angus Rutherford, you are under arrest." She said and pulled out the cuffs from her belt. She held it in front of my eyes bravely.
