Was that a whisper?
I heard someone whisper my name from afar. Or was it just in my head? It was so dark inside, I couldn't see a thing. My mind was in a chaos, and for a moment, I thought I was losing it. But then, the whisper came again.
"Kaida..."
This time, I knew it was real. Someone was out there. "Who's there?" I asked, squinting my eyes in the dark cell I was locked in. One of the prisoners nearby laughed at me.
"You're losing your mind, girl. It's normal," he said.
I ignored him. I was sane, and I knew it. "I'm here. Who's there?" I called out again.
The next thing I heard were footsteps, fast and getting closer. My heart pounded. Could it be Alpha Kael? Was he coming to rescue me?
