Kaida's POV
My chest heaved as I struggled to catch my breath, every muscle in my body was now aching with exhaustion. I could still see Alpha Kael, standing just a few feet away, his eyes searching mine with that familiar mix of regret and determination. The bond between us was still there, faint, almost lost beneath the layers of betrayal. How had we come to this?
"Kaida," he whispered, his voice too soft, too close.
I couldn’t take it anymore. The rage swelled inside me, and with it, my power.
I couldn’t control it, maybe I didn’t even want to. I threw my hand forward, calling forth everything I had left. The energy surged through me, hotter, fiercer than before. The force hit Kael, throwing him back. I watched as his body fly, disappearing into the trees.
And then I collapsed.
