I had never been in such an awkward situation before in my life. The whole thing felt off from the start, like walking blindfolded into a trap.
If anyone was meant to be happy, or even eager, to produce an heir for Alpha Kael, it should be Criseda.
She was Luna after all, and considering the fact that Alpha Kael wasn’t in love with her, you’d think she’d want to solidify her position with a child.
Everyone in the pack knew it—Alpha Kael’s heart was elsewhere.
It didn’t take a seer to tell that it had never belonged to Criseda.
His eyes always drifted when Kaida’s name was mentioned, even if we don't talk about her any longer. Even when he pretended otherwise.
