The three of them pulled up to the coffee shop and stepped out of the car. The sun shone brightly for a day in October, there was only a slight nip in the air hinting at the incoming winter weather. Approaching the cheerful coffee shop Sasha took in it’s surroundings, small round tables with cute cream vintage umbrellas. The fine roasted beans aroma saturated the air through the open doors. Upon entering they are hit with the warm heat and were greeted with a smile by the female barista. “What can I get you today?” She said brightly. They three of them conversed as to what to get and Isabelle approached her, confidently announcing that they would have two mochas and one latte. “Please find a seat and I will have it out for you in a minute.” Isabelle nodded and turned on her heel, approaching a booth in the back corner of the coffee shop. Sasha and Sophia both follow her and slide into a seat. Moments later the barista appears with their drinks. “Here you go.” Her demeanour is so chirpy, it makes Sasha feel physically ill, wishing she had any reason to be half as happy. “Thank you.” All three of them said as she placed each drink on the table. “Just give me a shout if you need anything ladies.” “Will do.” Replied Sophia. With that she returned to the counter. The coffee shop was quiet with only one other man on his laptop working away vigorously. Sasha looked around and digested the layout of the coffee shop. The tables were dotted around the shop in a diagonal pattern, dressed with beautiful cream table cloths that matched the umbrellas outside. Each table was at a nice distance to maintain privacy for each customer. Booths lined the back wall all with cream leather seats. Cream roses sat in a vase on each table which added to the sophisticated look of the coffee shop. The lighting was warm and created a welcoming, homely feel. Sasha clutched her latte feeling the warmth spreading through her fingers. She felt so beaten down inside but couldn’t comprehend why seeing as Malachi had brought her no happiness in such a very long time. She felt herself getting worked up and she began tracing the rim of her latte furiously. “Sash? Sophia looked concerned. “What’s going on? She asked. “I’m just really f*****g upset, and angry at myself for being upset. He didn’t even care.. that I broke up with him. He just accepted it and told me he’d bring me my stuff. I know he’s not a great guy but did I really make such a little impact on him in 5 years!!?” Tears streamed down her face. Isabelle rushed over to her and embraced her. “Hey now, don’t cry Sasha honey everything is going to be alright, I know how hard it is to lose someone even when they weren’t a great partner but you feel like a piece of you is missing without them but that feeling does go away. Look I’m sure he’s hurt as well over this break up. You know him better than anyone, how is he normally when something bad happens?” Sasha flopped backwards in the leather seat and thought for a moment. “Most of the time he would bottle stuff in and eventually it would explode.” She said. “Well there you go, he’s probably bottling it all up, like you said.” “I’m sure he was probably blind sided because to be honest even I was so I can only imagine how he’s feeling. But regardless you deserve happiness Sasha and he wasn’t making you happy at all.” She nodded in agreement sadly. “It just hurts feeling like you wasted so many years with someone, I don’t even know who I am, alone, anymore.” Sasha curled her knees up to her chest and put her head towards them. “We’re going to go out tonight! And we’re going to have so much fun you won’t even remember who Malachi is, trust me!” Sophia said with a warm smile. Sasha nodded a little and grabbed her coffee admiring the intricate leaf pattern on top, but quickly then took a large sip from it. “Right, no more feeling sorry for myself.” She said sitting up straight. “He doesn’t care, so neither do I!” I’m going to go out tonight for the first time in so long and actually enjoy myself!” “That’s the spirit!” Sophia cheered. “Hurry! Finish your coffees we have major outfit planning to do!” Isabelle said with excitement. Sasha smiled broadly at them with endearment and took a last sip of her latte. Placing the cup on the table she heard her phone buzz. Taking it out of her pocket she glanced at the screen and saw his Name.
Kai - One Unread Message
With everything that had happened she had completely forgot about him. She excitedly opened her phone to read the message.
Kai - Hey Beautiful! I hope your morning was good! I was thinking we could run some games tonight?! Lmk.
Beaming down at the phone she text back. “What are you smiling at?” Isabelle asked inquisitively while trying to peer at Sasha’s phone. “Oh I met this guy online.. his name is Kai, he’s very sweet.” “You’ve been holding out on us?!” Isabelle gasped. “Where is he from? What is he like? What does he look like?” “Relax!” Sasha giggled. He’s from New York and I don’t know really I haven’t spent a huge amount of time with him but he seems very nice.” She said shyly. “NEW YORK?!” Sophia exclaimed. “Why the hell do you always find all the boys that are so far away, can’t you look for someone here for once.” Isabelle rolled her eyes. Sasha let out a lighthearted laugh and smacked Isabelle gently on the arm. “He’s just a friend, and he lives far to far away to actually consider a relationship with him, never mind the fact I don’t really know him that well yet.” “A trip to New York wouldn’t be too shabby though, eh Sash?.” Sophia chortled while she nudged Sasha jokingly. “He defo could be an axe murder though.” Isabelle’s eyes were wide with horror. Sophia and Sasha looked at each other and burst out laughing. “Trust you to go straight to that Iz, you are watching too many true crimes shows!” “He could be though.” Whined Isabelle. Well he’s very far away so we don’t have to worry to much about that for the time being.” Sasha snorted. Sophia suppressed a giggle. “Are we all finished?” They all looked up and saw the barista towering over them. “Yes, thank you.” Isabelle replied with a small smile. “Great I’ll get this table cleaned up for you.” She began busily emptying the table of the cups. “Come on girls let’s head to my house now. I need to figure out what I’m wearing and Sash you can pick something of mine to wear tonight!” “Sounds like a plan.” Sasha nodded. As they began walking out the coffee shop, Sasha’s phone began to ring. Pulling it out of her pocket she looked at the name. Malachi. What could he possibly want right now?
