Her reaction to his confession hadn’t been anything he expected. Rage, anger, perhaps even disgust he’d been ready for, they’d been expected but not the look of woe that crossed her features. That he hadn’t been ready for. It was enough to shock the beast into silence.
Her lips trembled and her eyes filled with tears. He cursed himself, wishing he had a chance to retract the things he’d said. But what had he said so wrong to warrant a reaction like this?
She pulled her face away from his grip and he fought the urge to reach out to her again. Would it be counter productive? Especially when he didn’t know how he’d upset her.
