THE DRIVER MOVED THE sleek black car slowly through the streets and Shawna looked through the tinted windows at the city gliding by. It was strange being in a car, dressed to perfection, and moving through the main roads. She saw parts of the city she rarely had the chance to see. Everything seemed to be shimmering and shining with grandeur and luxury.
It was difficult to believe this was the same city Shawna had been trying to survive in for the past year.
When they approached the palace gates, she held her breath. She hadn’t made it this far before. Her mind flashed to Hanzel, who had stopped her from approaching, and told her that she would be caught if she came close to the palace gate.
