Is it already 6, last night's beatings took its toll on my body, why does my grandma hate me so much. I gather my old uniform that is way to small, since I blossomed this summer and made my way to the main house. Grandma doesn't want me to stay in her house, so I live above the garage. I quickly start on my chores, in hopes I can shower before I meet Ava my only friend to ride to school together. I was just finishing the mopping when I felt a smack go across my back hard enough to bring me to my knees and knock the air out of me. "Don't forget rent is due today b****," my grandmother Mary hissed at me.
"I haven't Mrs. Mary, I'll have it when I get home from my shift," I quietly said to her trying to catch my breath. She grumbled something to me and went back to her room. I hurried into the bathroom and jumped in the shower, I never know if Mary is going to turn the water off while I'm in there so I quickly wash my hair and body, ignoring the stinging pain on my back. She never hit me where people could see, she didn't want anyone snooping around. I looked at my back in the mirror at the fresh whip marks and the ones that have healed and scarred over. Why did I have to live this life, it wasn't my fault my dad took his life after losing my mom, but Mary blames me none the less. I get dressed, brush my hair, and head out the door. I walk four blocks before I see Ava white volkswagon beetle parked waiting.
"Hey," I whisper getting in the passenger side, I'm so thankful that she picks me up or I would have to walk 4 miles everyday to get to school.
