Aanandhi was cutting vegetables in the kitchen as she was helping KP to prepare her lunch box. Mythili hurried inside the kitchen. Mythili: KP, Did you finish cooking kheer? I have to offer it in today’s pooja. KP: Yes miss. Only garnishing is left. Mythili kept a frying pan and poured ghee into it. She added cashew nuts and almonds to fry. She put them in Kheer and mixed it well. Mythili (looking at Aanandhi): Today Chinni has to finalize an important foreign deal. So I do pooja for his success. Aanandhi: Ohh. Mythili: Hope anything which Chinni sees will bring him good luck. She left, taking Kheer bowl, leaving thoughtful Aanandhi. Aanandhi(with joining hands): Hey god, please give the foreign deal to Arshad. As Mythili said, please don’t bring anything in front of him which could turn into bad luck for him. Aanandhi had been avoiding going to their room. What if her face would become Arshad’s bad luck? Of course, Aanandhi means crazy. She heard Arshad calling her as she was getting late for college. Aanandhi(nervously): Hey god, what will I do now? Her face brightened as her tiny brain gave her a crazy idea. Arshad got confused as she was covering her face with a shawl. Arshad: Aanandhi… Are you alright? Aanandhi: I’m fine Arshad. She said, facing her back to him. Arshad: why are you covering your face? Aanandhi: Mythili told me that you are going for an important deal today. Arshad: Yes. so? Aanandhi: What if my face is your bad luck? Arshad( rolling his eyes): I won’t believe in ”LUCK”. I trust only myself. Aanandhi: But I believe it. Arshad: Oh. That means, won’t you see my face when you go to your exam? Aanandhi: It’s Different Arshad. Arshad: How? Aanandhi: Because I will go to my exam well prepared. Arshad: As same as, I’m well prepared for my deal. Remove the veil. Aanandhi:Arshad, please. I will feel bad if you lose the deal. Arshad: I don’t care even if I lose the deal. Because I have lost many deals before too.(he lied.) And because of your kind information, I know very well that I won’t get this deal. Aanandhi (perplexed): But why? Arshad: Because our company is in second position. So there is no chance for us to get this deal. He lied again. What if he lost the deal unexpectedly? Aanandhi would feel bad, like she was not good luck to Arshad. Aanandhi: Ohh. Arshad: Now remove it. Aanandhi: I will pray for you to get the deal. Arshad: Thank you. He smiled. Aanandhi got ready for college while Arshad smiled about her superstitious thoughts. This time he wanted to get the deal by hook or by crook to make her happy. AR Anoop got confused seeing Arshad’s face overflowing with happiness. Bagging new deals was not new for Arshad. But today he was delighted as he won the deal for the first time. Anoop: What’s the matter yaar, you look excited? Arshad: you will laugh if I ask about the matter. Anoop(excitedly): Let me Laugh then. Arshad narrated the whole conversation which happened between him and Aanandhi in the morning. Anoop smiled at him. Anoop: I don’t wonder about Aanandhi but you. I never thought you would become so fond of your wife one day. I really can’t understand what made you fall for her badly. Arshad: I too don’t know Anoop. Her innocence might be the reason. I had never seen such a childish girl ever. Anoop: But I am really scared of how you are going to bring her to reality. It needs patience ASR. Arshad: Honestly saying, there are no “husband and wife relationship” thoughts in my mind right now. Anoop: But you can’t be like this for long. Arshad: I won’t. I hope before completing her graduation, Aanandhi will understand everything. Anoop: I hope it happens soon. Anoop leaned sidewise to see what Arshad was doing on his laptop. He was stunned as Arshad was downloading Aanandhi’s portions and its Hindi terms on his laptop. Didn’t he promise her that he would teach her every day? What did he want more than her happiness? And was this the best way to be close to her? Anoop chuckled at seeing him making points faithfully. Anoop: I never saw someone studying BBA after completing an MBA. He laughed. (Arshad smiled) Seems like you got a way to earn her nearness? Arshad(nodded yes): I want you to search for the best “spoken English” coaching center in Mumbai. In an hour. Anoop: Sure. Arshad: Their method of teaching must be simple. Anoop: OK. Arshad: Aanandhi should come out the fear which she is having on English. Anoop: Let me search. Arshad: Yah. Evening Aanandhi saw Arshad waiting for her. She expected Mohan as usual. She came towards him. Aanandhi:Arshad… You here? I thought Mohan Bro would come. Arshad: I have an important matter to share with you. So I came. Aanandhi: What’s that? Arshad: I bagged the deal today. Aanandhi(excitedly): Really? But you said we are in second place? Arshad: Yes. I think my lucky Angel’s face brought me good luck. Aanandhi (hopping): who is that? Arshad: My wife. Aanandhi (going numb): Me? Arshad: yah, I had no hope in the morning as we were in second place. Still, we won. I think it’s because of you. Aanandhi(stammer): But you said you wouldn’t believe in luck? Arshad: Yes, but how wouldn’t I believe it? When I won the deal which I had no hope of? So I have to agree that you are my lucky Angel. Aanandhi felt embarrassed for the first time. This was over dozing. She always heard her mother, Arunita and friends calling her crazy, mad, mental, etc., etc., but she had been receiving only praising words from Arshad after her marriage. Aanandhi(in mind):Arshad is so much wiser than the people I met in my life. How cleverly he analyzes things. At least he got to know about me. She thought proudly. Arshad: Let’s go.(Aanandhi was about to open the car door) Aanandhi… wait. We go by walk. Aanandhi frowned and followed him. She got the answer when Arshad entered the institution which was next to her college campus, “Continental Academy for Spoken English”. Aanandhi: Am I going to learn English here? She asked, hoping. (Arshad nodded yes) Is this the institute where you learned English? Arshad (nodded yes): Yes, come here after your college time. Mohan will pick you up at 6 o'clock daily. Aanandhi nodded ok. Arshad introduced her to the head coach, who was in his early fifties. Aanandhi took his seat happily. Arshad left for AR after finishing formalities. Aanandhi started her English coaching. Yes, dancing on her head. RM Keeping a book in her hand, Zaara was sitting in the living room. Aanandhi closed her eyes from behind one who came from English class. Zaara: Aanandhi Aunty… Aanandhi: How did you find it was me? Zaara: No one other than you would do this, Aunty. Aanandhi: What do you think deeply? Zaara: About my problems. Aanandhi: Problems? What’s your problem? Zaara showed her math book to Aanandhi. Aanandhi ( chuckling): Is this your problem? Let me help you solve this. Zaara(excited) : Do you know math? Aanandhi: Not completely, but yes. She took the book from Zaara. She was taken back because it was an English media book as she studied in Hindi medium. Aanandhi knew that chapter very well, but how could she explain it to Zaara in Hindi? Zaara would become confused as “mathematical terms” couldn’t be described to her in Hindi. She took a deep breath and composed. She asked Zaara for her “classwork notebook” and went through it. It helped her to learn those “mathematical terms” in English. She got confident and started clearing Zaara’s doubts. Zaara became super happy that she got a super cool person at home to help with her studies. And Aanandhi is also glad, after all, she learned something in English by herself today. Zaara: Thank you so much Aunty. Why not we study together every day? Aanandhi: Sure. They shared hi-fi. Zaara: Aunty, let’s play hide and seek. Aanandhi: but I don’t know all the places in this house completely. Then how could I find you? Zaara: Mmmm…(she thinks) ok. We will play here in the living room by blindfolding. Aanandhi: That’s a good idea. Zaara brought simple black clothes and blindfolded Aanandhi’s eyes. They enjoyed playing. RM got filled with giggles from Aanandhi and Zaara, which brought Raut’s to the living room. They were attracted by these two and slowly joined them one by one, which gave Zaara extreme happiness. It was Aanandhi’s turn again. Grandma tied clothes to her eyes. Naina twirled her. Aanandhi started searching for people, extending her hands. She got hit on by someone. She hopped holding that person’s hand. She got confused because there was no movement from the other person. She moved her hands towards the person’s face and felt a prickly cheek. She removed the clothes from her eyes and saw her husband smiling at her. Raut's were stunned as Arshad arrived soon. Arshad (smirking): What’s happening here? Zaara: We are playing blindfold Uncle. Arshad: Seems like everyone became kids… Grandma: I feel I have lost ten years from my age. Nirupama: Mother-in-law is right, Arshad. You can try it with Aanandhi if you have time. She chuckled. Zaara: didn’t I say Uncle, Aanandhi Aunty plays well? Aanandhi looked at Zaara, widening her eyes and looked at Arshad, who nodded yes smilingly. He went to their room to start teaching lessons to Aanandhi, which he went through that morning. Aanandhi came following him. Aanandhi (gladly):Arshad… Arshad… I liked English class very much. Arshad: Is it understandable? Aanandhi: Yes. That English Master is teaching in a simple way. I think I will also speak English soon. She said dreamingly. Arshad: That’s great. Wait, I will come get fresh, then we will study today’s lesson. Ok? Aanandhi: Ok. Aanandhi was all set to learn. Arshad taught her lesson and Aanandhi learned it keenly. Arshad was not only teaching her lesson but also used the chance to learn about her. They heard a knock. Arshad opened the door and saw Mythili standing. Mythili: Chinni, when did you come? Arshad: Just half an hour ago Sis. Where were you at that time? Mythili: I went to the temple. She kept vermillion on Arshad’s forehead and Arshad’s gaze automatically went to Aanandhi. Why does this girl look uncomfortable whenever Mythili keeps vermillion on his forehead? He thought. Mythili fed prasad to him and also to Aanandhi. Mythili: What about your deal? Arshad: AR owned it Sis. Mythili: You said you had a conference in the evening? Arshad: I have postponed it until tomorrow. Mythili: But why? Anything serious? Arshad: Nope. I just winded up my schedule earlier to help Aanandhi in her studies. Mythili: Good. Go on. She left the room smilingly. Arshad again started teaching. Aanandhi showed extreme interest in learning. She noted down all the important points when Arshad explained. Arshad: I think that’s enough today. Aanandhi: But why? Arshad: Because you have been busy since morning. You went to college, spoke English class, and, adding to it, played Zaara, you must be tired. Aanandhi: Yes, but I can’t give it an excuse. You, too, went to the office, came to my college, again went back to the office and now Teaching me too. Don’t you feel tired? Arshad: Actually I came earlier today. Usually I arrive late at night. So I’m not feeling tired. Aanandhi: What are you doing? Arshad(with his lopsided smile): Thank God, Mrs.ASR likes to know about her husband’s profession, at least now. Aanandhi(embarrassed): Mommy told me, I shouldn’t torture you by asking questions. Actually, I’m very talkative. So… Arshad: You are my wife. You can ask me anything. And don’t you dare think you tortured me OK? (Aanandhi nodded OK.) I run a fashion designing company. AR is its name. Aanandhi: Ohh. Arshad didn’t say how big his empire was because she had to gain some power before knowing about her POWER that she was the sole QUEEN of his KINGDOM.
