Chapter Five

I woke up the next morning as again wrapped around Ariel. My fingers slid over her soft pale skin as her eyes fluttered open. I smirked at her, “Good morning, Kitten.” She tilted her head at me as she leaned towards me, “Good morning, Big bad wolf.” I chuckled as I turned her over to be on top of me then placed my hands behind my head, “Big bad wolf, huh.” She smirked, “that is what they call you, right?” I chuckled as I pushed my legs up so she fell over to me as she touched her lips against mine, “Don’t forget it.” I leaned into her ear to whisper, “I will take a bite of that ass of yours.” She giggled when she sat up as her hands slid over my chest. 

She started to slowly move her hips on top of me as my erection hardened under her and the fabric of my boxers. She let out a small moan as I felt her get wet above me. I picked up another mark a couple days ago when I knew I would have you here.” I sighed, “How long will keep you away?” He smirked, “Only for a couple hours.” I tilted my head as he laughed, “I am only taking small jobs until I know you are safe.” 

I threw my arms around him, “Have you ever wanted to get out of this line of work?” He c****d his head side to side, “Maybe one day. It is not very rewarding. I make a lot of money but I know that the people that I find usually get hurt at the end or lose their lives.”  My eyes widened, “Are you sure of that?” He shrugged his shoulder, “I have no idea. I don’t follow up on what happened to the person once they are delivered.” He sighed, “Not everyone is looking for revenge on someone. Sometimes I am asked to track down a loved one because of a reason of their own and they turn into good stories but those don't come offended.” 

I sighed at him, “Why did you decide not to give me to your client right away?” He smirked, “Because I fell for you. Plus we knew this was a revenge or some type of ransom case. We..” He leaned closer to me, “We as in everyone in this house wanted to make sure that you didn’t get hurt because of your innocence in it all.” I brushed his lips with mine, “Even Derek.” He chuckled as he gave me a kiss, “Even that asshole.” 

He lifted off of me when I missed his warm touched then he grabbed my hip and pulled me towards him. He hissed then landed his palm on my ass, “Get up. Shower and I will meet you downstairs.” I nodded as I got up and went into the shower. I turned on the shower as I slipped off the nightie. 

I placed on my sweatpants and went downstairs as Derek was standing in the kitchen. He looked up at me and moaned, “Oh Slate.” I rolled my eyes as I walked over to the fridge, “Shut the f**k up.” He chuckled, “I find it sweet. She is already screaming your name.” I laughed at him, “She has been screaming my name since yesterday.” His eyebrow lifted, then rolled his eyes, “The motel stopped.” I smirked at him, “You know it.” I sat the eggs down and bacon on the counter as he tilted his head, “You are falling for her.” I sighed as I placed pans on the stove, “Yes, I am f*****g in love with her and I am scared shitless of what is going to happened to her.” 

He smirked at me, “Have you told her that you love her.” I shrugged my shoulders, “I told her that I was falling for her.” He laughed, “This is more than falling for someone. This is love.” He sighed, “You were falling for Kris and this is not that.” I cracked the eggs into the hot pan, “I know but I can’t let my guard down. For her shake.” 

He shook his head, “What do you need me to do?” I relaxed my shoulders as I cooked the eggs and bacon, “Keep her safe when I am not here.” He nodded, “I will protect her no matter what.” I smiled as I finished breakfast as Ariel came walking into the kitchen and sitting next to Derek. 

He looked at me and smiled as he placed a plate of food in front of me. Derek winked as I gave him a small smile, “Derek, I want to apologize to you.” He turned towards me, “Oh, Why do you need to apologize, Princess?” 

I sighed, “I slapped you.” He chuckled, “I kind of deserved it” He wiggled his eyebrows, “I kidnapped you.” I shook my head, “I know but you were trying to protect me by kidnapping me.” He shrugged his shoulders, “That is beside the point. Either way, Princess. You don’t need to apologize. It was a love tap.” Slate laughed, “That black eye says otherwise.” Derek growled at Slate, “That was the foot that did that.” Slate sat down in front of me as he smirked, “I know the feet too well. I got it right in the chest.” 

After breakfast, I sat on the porch with Derek and Ted when Slate came running down the stairs in all black. He walked out and kissed my forehead, “Okay, Kitten these two idiots will protect you. And for the love of god. Do not take off on them.” I nodded as I smirked, “Can’t make promises.” 

He groaned as he leaned down and I lifted my face to him, “Please for me. Listen to what they tell you.” He gave me a kiss as I shrugged my shoulders, “I guess, for you. I will not run and I will listen to them.” He pointed to the two of them, “Both of you behave.” 

Ted groaned in protest, “It is Derek that needs to behave.” Derek threw a piece of apple at Ted as Slate shook his head, “I shouldn’t be too late. The job is local so if any trouble arises then I can get back within twenty minutes.” 

He walked out the door as Derek smiled at me as I snapped at him “What?” He leaned towards me, “He is in love with you.” I nodded, “I know he is falling for me.” He shook his head, “No, He is not falling. He is already there.” I looked up at him as my heart flitted. Was he already there? He treats me like he does care. He should be scary to me but he is not. Under all that tough man attitude, he is sweet to me. He never really made me feel that he was trying to hurt me or didn’t care about me. 

I tilted my head, “What makes you say that?” He shrugged his shoulders, “He kinda told me.” My eyes widened as Derek laughed, “You are in love with him, too.” I turned my head as Ted smiled at me while leaning against the railing, “Don’t worry, Princess. We will not tell him. You need to be the one that does.” 

He sighed, “I do have to warn you.” I turned my head back as I raised my eyebrow, “About?” He placed his knife into his apple, “Well, His job is dangerous. Which means that you are his weak link. If people find out then you can get hurt and get him hurt.” I nodded as I swallowed hard, “So, What am I supposed to do about that?” 

He leaned back as he slipped the apple into his mouth from his knife, “That is up to you and him. But just remember if the two of you get into a relationship, people can target you.” I looked at him, “Is that what happened to his girlfriend that was murder?” He darted his eyes to me, “What did you tell you about Kris?” I shook my head, “Just that she was murder and he was in love with her.” He sighed, “To be honest. That was him falling in love but he is in love with you. There is no falling.” 

He just placed the world on my shoulders. I was running from my father because of his dirty business but here I am in love with a man that carries out the dirty work. I will be his weak link. Can I stay away from this after all this. I don’t think I can and if I do, I have a feeling he will find me no matter where I go. This made me sick to my stomach. I don’t want him to get hurt and if Kris was murdered because she was his weak link, I don’t want to die. 

Derek looked at me, “Stop that.” I tilted my head, “Stop what?” He sighed, “Overthinking it. We all know that Slate has his teeth in you. He will find you no matter where you run. So, At this point what you and him decide. He will not be able to stay away.”  Ted scowled him, “Derek, stop scaring the poor girl.” Derek shrugged his shoulders, “ Just being truthful.” Ted shook his head, “You are an ass.” Derek laughed, “You know me too well.” 

After lunch I decided to find some yoga pants and a crop shirt as I went to the yard. I found a yoga mat as I started to stretch. I bent over as I heard a groan, “No matter how much I enjoy the view. I don’t like Derek and Ted drooling over you.” I jumped up as I ran over to Slate, “You are home.” He chuckled, “The job ended early so I had to get back to you.” 

He placed his lips on mine, “How was your morning?” I shrugged my shoulders, “Interesting.” He tilted his head puzzled, “Oh, anything I need to worry about?” I shook my head, “No, I'm just glad you are back.” He smiled, “Well, I am glad that you are glad.” 

He lifted me up as I wrapped my legs around him, “How is it, that I have known you for a short time but I feel like we have known each other for years.” 

He chuckled as his lips touched mine, “I guess, we were met to be.” I sighed, “What are we Slate?” He tilted his head, “I don’t understand what you are asking me.” My hand cupped his neck as my fingers brushed the bottom of his hair, “Well, I mean you kidnapped me but we act like a couple.” He smirked as he started walking towards the house, “Do you want to be a couple?” 

I shrugged my shoulders as I whispered, “I am afraid that I will be your weak link.” He stopped walking as he looked at me. His eyes searched mine as I felt guilt of placing him and myself at risk by wanting a relationship, “f**k. Derek. Listen.” He sighed, “You are not my weak link. If anything you will make me stronger. Give me something to want to come home, too.” I looked into his eyes, “I just don’t want to see you get hurt and I don’t want to end up like Kris.” His eyes went wide as he yelled, “Derek you are a dead man.” 

I heard Derek run back into the house as Ted laughed from the porch, “Kris wasn’t murdered because of my job. She was murdered because of her father.” He had me place my legs back on the ground as he cupped my face, “That is why I want to protect you so much. I didn’t know how much of an ass Kris’s father was. She ran from an arranged marriage such as you did.” He looked up at the sky, “I didn’t know that she was supposed to marry anyone until it was too late.” 

He shook his head, “This it is so important for you to tell me everything your father has done to you. I can protect you better.” I nodded at him as he placed his lips on my forehead, “I am sorry.” He smiled, “There is nothing to be sorry about, kitten. Derek just didn’t know the full story. I get what he was doing but I am going to kick his ass.” 

He let me go as he ran into the house when I yelled, “Go easy on him.” Ted laughed as I walked up the stairs as I heard Derek and Slate laughing. They were wrestling in the house when I walked in when I heard Derek, “I give man. I give.” Slate walked over to me and kissed me hard, “Remember I am the alpha male in this house.” I groaned as they laughed.
