I can’t help the sinking feeling in my stomach. I can feel my insides sinking deeper and deeper… and deeper inside of me.
And all it took was Norman’s surprise presence back in my life and that very charming smile. Charming, but full of spikes. I would be stupid to fall for it.
If there’s anyone who should be fuming here, it’s me. For everything he has made me go through, only for him to leave me high and dry with nothing. I had to pick up the pieces alone, and now he expects me to run to him, to stay in his arms just because he says so?
I straighten my back and meet his eyes confidently. I’m not going to let him see how much he affects me.
