Chapter 13 She came alone, and ordered the same thing. Reginald had not yet made his rounds. He was still sipping at a Scotch near the old bay window at the bar’s front. She was surprised when Proinsias pulled a seat beside her at the bar. He acknowledged her and ordered a cranberry juice. The bartender made a face but obeyed. Proinsias knocked on the oak in three-quarter time. Eleanor sipped at her drink. She was curious about his clothing, the denim jacket, the worn sneakers. The man looked, and it seemed appropriate to her eyes, as if someone had explained hipness to him, he intended to emulate it, and then lost interest.
