TESSA Two days had passed since the last time I spoke to the girls. I was sitting in the room when my phone vibrated violently against the desk, breaking the quiet that had settled in the room like a thick fog. I didn’t even need to check who it was because I knew who it was. I had assumed it was Amanda but to my surprise, it was Dalia’s name that was flashing across the screen when I picked it up. I stared at the phone like it has claws and like answering it would shred whatever silver of peace I had left. Reluctantly, I picked up. “What?” Her voice came in with no warning, fast and pressing. “When does he say I can come home?” I got up from the bed and started pacing around the room. “Dalia, I have not had time to talk to Zane about it yet. I told you that it’s not that simple.”
