My heart hammered in my chest. This was all too sudden. All I wanted was to leave Garrett and get my paintings and name back. Zane, my now husband- God it was weird referring to someone else as my husband. Someone who wasn't Garrett. A walking, breathing lie. He had this look in his eyes that got my heart racing and I swear it wasn't the good kind.
“How do you feel about meeting my family tonight?” Were the words that almost had me sprinting away from him and all of this.
“Once you sign this, there's no going back.” Those words were surely going to haunt me forever.
“Too soon, Zane…” I tried to breathe but my lungs refrained.
Zane lifted a brow at me, “I'm afraid we don't have time, Tessa. My birthday isn't far away, remember? Plus, I wasn't exactly asking…”
