How Mac Duchaine Learned the Accordion
Faith Costa had fallen in love with the piano accordion when she was a little girl. She played several musical instruments including the piano, the guitar, the violin, and the trumpet. She sometimes played a harmonica.
But her first love remained the piano accordion. She thought it was because the piano accordion combined so much. The instrument created melody on the keyboard side of it, bass notes with the bass buttons and harmony with the chord buttons. She also enjoyed the way it required so much of the player since you had to play the keyboard with one hand, the buttons with the other, and at the same time smoothly pull and push the bellows in and out.
