Fastidious Foxx and Her Sloppy Sloan
Robert Andrew Sloan, Jr. was never called Robert or Bob or Andrew or Andy by close friends or intimates. Even as a child, he wanted people to call him just plain “Sloan” and insisted on it so the other children had always used that name and he had felt a rebellious annoyance when teachers insisted on “Robert.” Everyone in his adult life, including his wife Foxx, called him “Sloan.” He just preferred the blunt and basic simplicity of his last name and always had. The thirty-two year old attorney, who specialized in medical malpractice cases, typically answered the phone with an assertive, “Sloan!”
