❀ Amy ❀ Monday afternoon, and the café was already buzzing when I walked in. That early afternoon lull, where people tried to escape the heat with iced coffees and long lunches, filled the space with soft chatter and the occasional clatter of plates. I spotted them instantly. Jessica had claimed our usual corner booth, her sunglasses pushed into her hair. Karen waved me over. Tina was already sipping something bright and fizzy through a straw.
