Emmett settled in well, he had a few control problems like Mum did but we just moved when necessary. May 19th 1938 came and went and I quietly mourned for my parents before going back to normal. Rose and Emmett got married and went on a really, really long honeymoon, really it was the fact that we couldn’t stand to be within 5 miles of them when they were newly weds they came home a couple of months ago when we moved to Washington State, West of the Olympic Peninsula. We were all out hunting except Mum who was decorating a house for someone. I was walking along behind everyone when something large jumped at me. I screamed as I fell to the floor and the thing landed on top of me. I heard my family running towards me and I looked up at my captor a large, no huge, brown wolf. He towered over me as he put his paw on my chest and dug his claws in making me scream out again. “Let her go!” I heard Emmett shout. My family appeared at the edge of the clearing I had been thrown into. Just then 2 more wolves came out of the woods growling. “We're different from our kind!” Edward shouted. “Edward their animals not people. Lets just kill them!” Rosalie said. The wolf pressed harder with his paw making me scream again. Rose started to walk towards me and the wolf and with every step she took the wolf dug its claws further into my chest until I was screaming in agony. “Rosalie stop!” Edward called out “They are shape shifters from a local Native American Tribe. They protect their tribe from 'cold ones' or vampires.” Rosalie stepped back but the wolf did not loosen its grip. Dad stepped forward looking at me with concern filled eyes. “We don’t intend to harm your tribe. We feed of animals not humans, look at our eyes they are not red. Please just let my daughter go, we can make a treaty; live in peace.” The wolf holding me down turned to look at the others before turning to Edward who translated. “He said ' Treaty first then I let the girl go.'” I whimpered quietly. Dad looked at me and nodded slightly. “Okay then what are your terms?” he asked. “ 'You say you are different, well our terms are that you must never harm a human and that includes transforming one, and you must keep our existence a secret. Your terms.' ” Edward translated. “We need room to hunt in the woods and our existence must also be kept secret.” “ ' Deal, the creek in the centre of the woods is the boundary line. The town in neutral but you cannot step foot on Quileute land. Do you accept? ' ” “Yes my whole family will stand by this treaty.” Dad told them. “ ' We will be watching, ' ” “Can you release my daughter now?” Dad asked politely. The wolf looked down at me and nodded his head before stepping off of me. I ran vampire speed into Dads open arms and clung to him starting to sob. “Thank you for your time. Edward, Emmett, Rosalie lets go.” He picked me up and started to walk away with Rose as I tightened my grip around his neck. I heard Edward and Emmett growl at the wolves and turn to follow us, when we were a safe distance away we took of vampire speed into the house. Mum was home and met us in the living room after hearing my sobs. Dad tried to set me down on the sofa but I just clung tighter to him and he sighed before sitting down next to Mum. I flung one arm around Mum so I was clinging to both of them. “What happened?” Mum asked panicked. Dad explained what happened while I sobbed. I felt Mum rub my back and someone’s hand took mine. I knew it was Edward and I squeezed it tightly. I heard Rose and Emmett muttering across the room and slowly my sobs came to a stop. “Honey would you like a drink?” Dad asked. I nodded my head. “Can you go to Edward then so I can get up?” I loosened my grip on him and turned around into the arms of my brother. I couldn't talk so I spoke to him in my head. I thought I was going to die Edward. “So did I Lizzy, they were going to kill you,” I've never been so scared. “I know.” I heard a mug being set down on the coffee table and smelt the blood but I couldn't move. “She's in shock about what happened, she doesn't want to move or talk.” just then a howl sounded through the woods. I stiffened, not even breathing. “We better go see what they want.” Dad said. I snapped my head towards him. “No.” “Elizabeth we have to.” dad sighed. “No what if they hurt you?” I cried. “They wont. Stay here with Rosalie and Emmett.” He told me, I nodded looking at the ground. “We'll be fine Elizabeth” He turned to Rose and Emmett “Make sure she drinks that and stays calm.” and he took off out of the door with Edward and Mum following went and sat in-between Rose and Emmett. “They'll be alright little sis,” Emmett said handing me the mug of blood. I took a mouthful and swallowed. “How can people turn into wolves. Its not possible is it?” “I don't know sis,” Emmett told me. “Well they are scary and they stink I mean they really smell.” I spat out angrily. “Does it still hurt?” Emmett asked pointing at where the wold dug his claws into my skin. “No but it aches.” I complained. “Drink your blood and it might get better.” I drank the rest of the blood and laid down with my head on Rose's lap and my feet on Emmett's. “You comfy there Ellie?” Rose asked stroking the hair out of my eyes. “Yeah, I’m tired. I haven’t been tired in over 20 years.” Rose laughed and started playing with my hair. I closed my eyes and relaxed. A few hours later, the others came back. “What is she doing?” I heard Edward ask. “I'm trying to sleep.” I told him without opening my eyes. “You cant sleep.” He pointed out. “Doesn't mean I cant try.” I also pointed out. “Its getting you nowhere.” Edward stated. “Its relaxing and I was told to stay calm, wasn’t I Dad?” I called the last bit. “That's right sweetie. Edward leave her alone.” I smiled and poked my tongue out still keeping my eyes closed. Over the next few days I was scared to leave the house even though I needed to hunt. I was sitting at the window looking out into the woods my eyes black from thirst. “Lizzy you are going to have to hunt sometime.” Edward told me. “What if the wolves attack me again?” I asked in fear. “They wont. We have all signed the treaty and they aren't allowed over this side of the woods as long as we live here.” “Will you go with me?” He sighed but nodded and we ran out into the woods. Edward was right the wolves didn’t bother me and after a while I was confident enough to go out on my own. ~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~
