I woke up to the sound of something crashing on the floor I got up and ran to the kitchen where Valerie was picking up the glass of a plate she dropped. I grabbed the broom and swept up the mess for her. "What's wrong?" I asked as I three the plate in the trash. "You have superior reflexes and you dropped a plate and it broke something is on your mind." I turned to look at her when I noticed the red envelope on the counter. I looked at Val and understood why she was so freaked out. I grabbed the envelope off the counter and opened it. I read what could only be described as a summons from my father. I through the letter away and went to go get dressed. I jumped in the shower and showered quickly less I keep my father waiting. My father Michlo was known as one of the most ruthless vampires he also ran the northern hemisphere nothing happened without his knowledge and those that dared disobey him were dealt with swiftly and without mercy. I got out of the shower and dried off quickly and went to my walk in closet and pulled on a pair of black boy short underwear and a black lacy bra. I pulled on my black skinny jeans and then grabbed a black form fitting t shirt. I brushed my hair and French braided my hair and went over to the back of my closet and placed my palm on the wall and it opened up to reveal all my weapons. I grabbed a Glock and I grabbed two knives. I strapped one to my left thigh and I strapped my Glock to my right thigh. I pulled my boots on and slid the other knife into the of my boot inside. I stood and closed the weapons vault and walked out of my room sealing it shut. and looked at Val who nodded in encouragement as I walked out of the house. I got into my car and drove to my fathers house when I pulled up to the front Jake came and opened my door for me. I smiled at him as I got out and walked into my fathers house. I walked into the great hall where I usually met with my father. He sat up on what could only be described as an alter in a throne made of gold and diamonds. I kneeled on one knee in front of him.
"Father, you summoned me?" I kept looking down at the ground till I was told I could stand.
"Rise child, Yes I did. I want you to go on a mission tomorrow. You have till then to prepare yourself for this mission that may be the most important one you ever do." I stood as he spoke and looked at him. "What's my mission." I asked as he stepped down toward me. "I need you to get the leader of the Rose-thorn pack to sign a peace treaty with. We don't have to like them for us to have peace between us." I stared at my father confused.
"You want a peace treaty with the Rose-Thorn pack? Why" My father was very traditional and something didn't sit right with me with him wanting a peace treaty.
"YEs you will go and collect the leader and bring him back here. We will discuss the terms of the treaty and will have peace between our two clans by the end of the week. Do you understand your role?" He looked at me with his hard blue eyes. Looking into his eyes was like looking into an abyss there was nothing there. I frowned, "But father, the Alpha will not take kindly to being summoned like a common person. They are very proud people much like us in that way." I realized my mistake as soon as my fathers pupils turned to slits. I looked down at the ground.
"You dare compare those mutts to us!?" He roared.
"No Father, I only meant that they would take offense to being summoned." I stayed looking at the ground as I ground my teeth. I heard him scoff "Those mutts are too proudful for their own good. Very well Alessia you've made your point. Convince him then. Convince him to meet with me tomorrow. You will go and fetch him tomorrow."
"What if he refuses to meet with you" I asked as I looked back up at my father.
"Are you doubting your skills to complete this task? I'm entrusting you because you are my best. If you think you can't handle the mutts then I'll send another." He challenged. I bowed as my hands fisted at my side.
"I will not disappoint you Father."
"I do not doubt that. Now you will leave tomorrow morning at dawn. I do not need to remind you of the consequences of disappointing me."
"No Father. I understand my duty." My hands were still fisted by my side everything in me said this was wrong. My father never cared about peace with the wolves why would he now.
"So you'll be ready tomorrow at dawn to leave. Do not come home unless you have the mutt with you. Am I understood?"
"Yes father....." I bowed again and accepted my job even though everything in me said something was wrong with this.
"Excellent. You're dismissed." He waved his hand dismissing me. I nodded and walked out of the great hall. Once I was out of the house I took a deep breath that my lungs desperately needed. I grab my keys from Jake and got into my car and drove out of there like a bat out of hell. I drove to the cliffs and parked at the bottom, and walked up to the edge of the cliff. I stared at the raging water below me as I breathed. I came here to help clear my mind and think. I knew my father was up to something but I couldn't tell what. Everything in my being screamed this was not a good idea but who was I to argue with my father? I frowned and shook my head. I had no choice but to do what he requested of me. Even if I had a bad feeling about this.
