He motioned with his head for me to follow him into the house. I looked back at the sandy colored wolf as he licked his wound he growled at me. I rolled my eyes no longer feeling sorry for him, as I followed Calvin into the house. He led me up the stairs and to the last door on the right, pushing the door in and walking in holding the door allowing room to pass without fear of him attacking. I hesitantly walked in into the office, looking at the mahogany desk centered in the middle of the room with a large window behind it allowing him view of most of the pack territory. There were books lined all along the walls from ceiling to floor. There were three chairs one behind the desk which looked more like a throne made of mahogany behind the desk and two smaller chairs in front of the desk. I stood in the center of the office paying him the respect of not sitting till he was at his desk. I kept my eyes on the window letting him know I was not here as a threat and that I trusted him even if I kept my hearing up making sure he wouldn't attack from behind though something told me he had more honor than that. Calvin walked around me and stopped right in front of me he looked into my eyes and I returned the favor as I stared into his eyes everything felt like it was shifting right under my feet. My heart started running rampant again. It felt like I had a weight on my chest like I couldn't get a deep enough breath. I tried to look away but his stare was magnetizing it was damn near impossible to look away plus I didn't want him to think he had the upper hand. I saw him leaning forward a little and he sniffed at the air between us and a low growl emitted from his chest. A growl that I felt all the way down my spine and down to me toes.
"So we meet again little one." he smirked
I scoffed "Little? I'm sure I have you beat by a couple hundred years 'little wolf'." He just smiled amused by my comeback. He turned on his heals in a way that I figured would be too graceful for a wolf with their massive bodies. I watched him walk behind his desk and he gestured to the chair that was directly in front of his desk for me to sit. I sat down and crossed my ankles in front of me and sat back and placed my hands on the arms of the chair relaxing a little. I watched him sit down in one fluid motion as he leaned forward he placed his elbows on the edge of the desk and crossed his fingers and placed them right in front of his lips covering the bottom half of his face his piercing blue eyes almost glowing as he stared at me.
"So do what do I owe the pleasure of a Vampire coming to the wolves territory? Did you take the wrong turn coming off the highway?" His condescending tone grating to my ears as I smiled at him sweetly.
"Actually the smell alone tells you exactly where you are so I think it's safe to say that no I'm not lost. I came to speak to the Alpha of the Rosethorn pack about the possibility of a peace treaty between us and your pack." I smiled at him politely.
"You want to speak of peace when you came in throwing your weapons around and injuring my men?"
"I told them I would not hurt them so long as they let me pass to speak with you. I was perfectly ok with them escorting me to see you. I knew they wouldn't trust me to come up here alone."
"You a leech would have accepted to be escorted by us 'mutts'?" I visibly flinched when he called me a leech though I knew not why. I had been called worse by his kind but something about when he said it registered as physical pain almost like a slap to the face. I could see that once he had said the word he regretted it instantly.
"I can see now it was a mistake to come here. I meant only to ask you to accompany me back to my territory to speak peace with my clan leader." I said as I stood slowly so he wouldn't think i was going to attack.
"Why should I? Your kind has don nothing for us and will sooner slaughter us all then to work with us. What do you know that you won't say?" he asked as I turned to walk out.
I paused with my back still to him "Honestly in my opinion, you're right my clan Leader Michlo would sooner slit your throat than to ever work with you so if it's a peace treaty he wants there is an ulterior motive. I wouldn't trust it. But if you don't accept this offer you also run the risk of him coming and wiping out your entire pack. That is all I know. Have a nice day Alpha Calvin." I stated simply as I walked to his office door as I reached the handle I heard him call out to me.
"Wait, Alessia.... If I agree to meet with your clan leader. I'm taking my two Beta's. There is no negotiation on that." He stated as he walked over to me. I turned to face him and looked into his eyes.
Understand that you are walking into the pits of hell and may not return. There is a reason our clan is considered the deadliest. Michlo is ruthless and cares for nothing. Only power. That is all he cares for, who has the most power and who can obtain the most power. If you go you must be alert and ready at all times. He must not sense any weakness on you. I will get you to our clan leader safely that you have my word. But after you're in front of Michlo that is where my protection ends. Do you understand?" He looked into my eyes with a confusion that seemed foreign to me. Most likely due to his enemy warning him on what to do and what not to do and wondering if my word could be trusted.
"Do I have a choice?" He scoffed at me.
"Yes you do. You can chose to not go."
"And run the risk of your clan wiping mine off the face of the Earth?" He growled and got in my face.
"I never said it was an easy choice." I sympathized with him. Any great leader would care for his people and I knew he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He looked at me surprised and I was confused till I realized I had reached out and touched his cheek with my hand. I was about to pull my hand away when I felt the subtly of him leaning into my touch my breath stopped as I looked at Calvin and as he looked into my eyes his piercing blue eyes glowing and pinning me to my spot. I leaned forward without realizing till I felt his breath against my lips. With a growl he pulled away and was at his desk leaning on it looking out the window at his territory contemplating no doubt I tried to calm down my heart and keep my breathing even.
"We leave tomorrow at dawn." He turned and looked at me. "You have my word that no one will harm you so long as you are a guest here. I will show you to your room."
"Why can't we leave now? We could get there before dark." I countered.
"Tonight is the full moon and I doubt even your clan leader will want to test us when we are at our strongest." He smirked.
I tried not to laugh thinking that my father would have him for breakfast but said nothing instead I nodded feeling like an i***t for not realizing what night it was and that my father must have known when he sent me. 'That f*****g bastard he really was testing me today.' I thought to myself.
"Very well. We shall leave tomorrow morning." I stated as straightened my shoulders.
