WREN’s POV.
I turned in my sleep but immediately shot my eyes open as I saw an unfamiliar ceiling. my heart racing as memories of the previous night came back.
I turned to my right and saw the mark on Caspian’s shoulder, as my mate. Panic set in as I realized what I had done. I had to get out of there, fast.
"What have I done?" I whispered to myself, my voice trembling with fear.
I carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake Caspian. I grabbed my clothes and quickly got dressed, my hands trembling . I had to leave before he woke up, before he realized what I had done.
As I slowly got out of the bedroom , I heard a faint noise from the bed. I froze, my heart pounding in my chest, I wanted to turn but I was scared of what I might see. Minutes passed and it turns out Caspian just rolled over, still fast asleep.
I let out a sigh of relief and continued my escape. I opened the door and ran, as fast as they could. I took a turn, heading into an alley.
But I was forced to stop when I heard a voice behind me.
"Hey, look what we have here," a rough voice called out.
I turned to see a group of rogue wolves, their eyes glowing in the dark alley.
my legs carrying me
“Who...who are you? What do you want?” I asked, my voice trembling with fear.
“We are here to get rid of you...” the biggest of the bunch answered me.
“Who sent you? Why? What have I done... someone sent you?” I mumbled, already knowing who might have sent them.
"Keira sent us," one of them sneered, as he lunged himself at me, throwing me off my feet and landing hard on the cold ground . "You're not going anywhere."
I struggled and kicked, but he was too strong.
“stop messing around, we have to leave before the city wakes up.” The biggest wolf said and two
other wolves approached me.
They dragged me away from the safety of the streets, throwing me into an old van.
“Let me go!” I hissed. “Let me go! You have to let me go.” I yelled at the top of my voice, making my throat sore.
“Shut up!” A familiar voice snarled.
The van’s door opened and I see Keira , her lip curled up in a sneer.
“why? Why Keira, why are you doing this to me?” I asked, my voice trembling with rage.
“I want to get rid of you... completely.” She yelled at me, the veins on her forehead popping out. “Are you so scared?” I asked, secretly enjoying her rage. “You are a b***h! A two faced b***h who is scared of the truth coming back to haunt her.”
“Scared of what?”
“Of Damien realizing his mistake and coming back for me?”
"You'll never be Damien’s mate ," she spat, before the van drove off.
I was flung from one side of the van to another as the van took a turn and the road got rockier and bumpier.
The van screeched to a halt, and I was dragged out, my wrists tied by rough rope. I stumbled, the sudeen bright light blinding me temporarily.
Slowly my eyes adjusted to the light and I scanned my surroundings. “Red Light.” The sign read and I could feel my torts suddenly began dry and constricted .
“This was the notorious red light distract? Where werewolves were sold like loaves of bread?”
A burly man grabbed me, hanging a price tag on my neck. I struggled, but he held me firm as he dragged me into a room filled with werewolves, lycans , humans and other shapeshifters.
I expected a smelly room with lots of shouting but it was the exact opposite. Everyone has their seat, and it smelled like flowers blooming in the spring.
"Lot 17, a rare wolf shifter," he bellowed, his voice echoing through the room. "Bidding starts at $10,000."
I scanned the crowd, my heart racing. Which one of these wealthy-looking individuals, sipping champagne and chatting like they were at a socialite's party will buy me?
“$15,000.” A fair maiden bid.
The bidding began, voices calling out numbers that roads higher and higher.
Just then, the door swung open and a majestic man strode in, and the hall erupted into murmurs as some even stood up from their seats to catch a glimpse of the man.
I squinted my eyes, my neck attained and then, I saw him. Caspian.
He stood at the back of the room, his eyes fixed on me. My eyes went wide in surprise and my face pale.
What was he doing here?
“$30,000” the fair maiden raised the price.
"$30,000, do I hear $40,000?"
The room fell silent, and Caspian smiled.
"$40,000," he said, his voice firm.
“50,000.” The fair maiden said, as she adjusted in her seat. “$60,000” CASPIAN said, his voice calm.
"$60,000, going once... going twice..." the auctioneer said, his voice dramatic. “$70,000” the fair maiden yelled.
Caspian took another step forward, his eyes never leaving mine.
My mind raced with worst case scenarios.
I cursed my fate for letting this happen to me.
“$100,000”
The crowd gasped in shock.
“A maid for $100,000” the voice in my head whispered.
"Sold, to the gentleman at the back, for $100,000" the auctioneer said, slamming his gavel down.
Caspian turned to the thin, broad shouldered man who stood by his side the whole time and pointed to me.
The man walked forward with a thick wad of cash in his hand.
“Hand her over.” The thin man said, as he gave the auctioneer the money.
“Done.” The auctioneer replied, his eyes shining with greed as he stared at the money in his hand. “Now!” The thin man hissed, his voice laced with annoyance.
My eyes remained on Caspian who slowly approached me, a smirk on his face. “Gotcha!”
