PAUL ISN’T THERE IN the morning when Alex wakes up, not that Alex is surprised. They are, for the first time in months, on the same page, even if it is a terrible one. As he leaves for the airport, he almost feels okay. He certainly feels older, which he doesn’t mind at all. He needs all the tools and strength he can get.
He texts Paul when he lands to let him know he’s gotten in safely and actually gets a reply. Once he’s checked in, he texts Liam to the same effect but with clear instructions to not call, appear at, or otherwise consider the existence of his hotel room. They can hang out tomorrow, after they’ve seen each other on set.
