WITHOUT Fourth to keep him busy, Paul worries aloud that Alex will go back to the restless boredom of the summer shooting hiatus. But the end of shooting means that Alex gets to focus on what comes next without anything else to worry about, and that’s what he’s wanted all along. He spends a lot of time with Margaret, looking at different projects and talking through what he wants the shape of the next year to look like.
It would be easier to do that if he knew what shape he and Paul were going to be in next year, but Alex has always made decisions with variables unknown. This variable just hurts a little more than most.
In one of their meetings, Margaret asks what Alex thinks about paintball.
“Excuse me?” The question seems apropos of nothing.
