PAUL IS GRATEFUL FOR the text he’d gotten from Alex this morning. For the most part he feels okay with Alex and the choices he’s made about the people in his strange and tangled life. It may still make Paul nuts, but he’s working on that. But as the day goes on without more word from him, Paul starts to worry. He had expected at least an update when Alex had gotten to the lot. At lunch Paul texts him with How is it going? He tries not to be a jealous asshole when he doesn’t get a reply. Alex would react poorly to that. Paul’s on his own set watching Darcy in her gas station convenience shop preparing for a night of work, both legal and illegal. If Melissa, the high school graduate, is going to start a business wrangling prostitutes, it’s going to be a full customer-service experience. Sh
