28 Kira flinched as she heard a car horn sound from somewhere outside. Ginette had escorted her and Nick to the spacious front entryway of the mansion, where they were about to take their leave. The honk was short and sharp, almost as if someone had hit the horn by accident. Kira had a sinking feeling she knew who had caused it. Ginette paused with her fingers in the air above the handle of front door with a frown. “Did you hear that?” Kira made herself shrug. “Someone out on the street maybe?” “That’s what it sounded like to me,” Nick agreed in a bland voice without meeting her eyes.
