Chapter 11

“How did you manage to do this?” the nurse chuckled as she examined the cast around my wrist. Alexander insisted on going to the hospital when he found a crack in the cast when we were having lunch earlier. I told him it was nothing and it didn’t hurt but he wouldn’t listen.

“She was quite the fighter yesterday”, Alexander told the nurse, a proud expression on his face. I just look down, still shaken from what happened yesterday. We still hadn’t talked about it but I wasn’t sure if I could even explain what happened.

“Let’s just change that cast, then we can check on your wrist while we’re at it. I’ll be right back”, the nurse said and left us alone.

“What’s wrong, love?” Alexander stepped closer to the hospital bed I was sitting on, leaning his arms on both my sides.

“I don’t know, I guess I’m still a little bit shaky from yesterday”, I answered as I looked up at him.

“Don’t worry too much. We’re going to see your parents in a few days and I’m pretty sure that’s going to clear up a lot”, he reassured me before pulling me into his chest.

“I hope so”, I whispered as I rested my head against him. I heard his steady heartbeat and it instantly made me relax.

After a bit the nurse came back in and Alexander stepped a few steps away from me.

“You ready, Victoria?” the nurse asked and I nodded at her.

She took the cast off and took me to another room to take some scans before walking me back to the first room. Alexander had stayed here, busy on his phone.

“Okay, the doctor will be here shortly for the scans and after I’ll give you a new cast”, she smiled at me.

“Thank you”, I told her before she nodded and stepped out again.

I walked further into the room and looked down at my wrist. I doesn’t look bad, actually it looks completely normal to me. I softly started moving it and it didn’t hurt at all. That’s weird.

“Hey”, Alexander snapped my eyes up as he took long strides towards me.

“Don’t do that. It hasn’t healed yet”, he scolded me and made me sit down on the hospital bed again.

“But it doesn’t hurt”

“Still, you shouldn’t push it”, he looked at me sternly before we both turned to the door, the doctor coming in.

“Alpha, Luna”, he greeted as he came towards us with the scans in his hand.

“Michael”, Alexander greeted him with a nod and I just smiled at him. He looked down at the scans and I saw both of his eyebrows scrunch up before looking at me.

“How long had you been wearing the cast?” he asked confused.

“A little over 3 weeks”, Alexander answered for me.

“That’s not possible”, the doctor muttered and looked down at the scans again.

“What’s wrong?” I asked nervously when the doctor stayed quiet.

“A broken wrist normally takes at least 8 weeks to heal”, he said, finally looking up from the scans.

“So?” Alexander pushed, impatiently.

“Victoria’s wrist is completely healed”

“How is that possible?” I turn baffled to the doctor. Why can’t things go normal just for one day here…

“I don’t know, luna. I can’t expl-“

“It’s okay Michael. We’ll be going back to the pack house”, Alexander spoke calmly before taking my hand and leading me out the hospital. We walked back to the house, peace and quiet all around us. It was close to dinner time so most people would be in their homes or in the pack house anyway.

After a while I heard him sigh and he turned to look at me.

“You’re not going to ask?”

“Are you going to answer?” I looked at him as I already know the answer.

“Your dad will tell you everything, sweetheart”, he told me as we walked up to the mansion. I decided to drop it, I had enough crazy s**t happening yesterday.

We walked in and I started walking towards the dinning hall before he stopped me.

“Can we go up to the office for a second? There is something I want to give you”

“What is it?” I asked but he just held his hand out and motioned for me to come. I followed him to his office where he went behind his desk to get something.

“With everything that happened yesterday, I thought it was the best idea to give you this back”, he spoke before holding out something.

“I can have my phone back?” I excitingly started bouncing up and down before taking the phone. A smile came to his face when he saw my reaction.

“So next time you’re in trouble, call me”, he said in all seriousness.

“Thank you”, I spoke before sitting down on my usual spot next to the window.

“You’re very welcome”, he said and sat down next to me.

“Oh and before that snatches your attention away completely. Amélie and a few others organized a bonfire for tonight, she asked if you’d come” he added.

“Sure, sounds like fun”, I smiled at him before turning on the phone. As soon as I put in my code it started going off with messages and missed calls.

-Why are you not in school?- Lisa

-Are you sick? We’re worried xx- Maryn

-Hey Tori. Haven’t seen you in a while, are you okay?- Benjamin

-b***h, I just heard you left. How could you not say goodbye?- Lisa

-Hey, I just heard you moved away. Just wanted to say that we miss you- Eveline

-Why are you all leaving me? And you’re even ignoring me! d**k move Sullivan- Lisa

I had a ton of messages of people asking where I went and if everything was okay. It really made me feel guilty since none of them knew where I was. I decided to immediately call Lisa, hoping I could still fix the damage. After all, we used to do everything together and I disappear all of a sudden without a word. I pushed the call button and waited for her to pick up.

“Look who decided to grace me with a phone call”, her sarcastic voice sounded through the phone.

“Oh my god, Lisa I’m so sorry. I didn’t have my phone and there was just a lot going on”, I rambled before glaring at Alexander who was not so subtly listening in. She was silent for a minute before I heard her sigh.

“Are you okay though?” she asked but I could hear the hurt in her voice.

“I am now. I really wish I could have said goodbye but everything went so quick”, I tried to explain.

“It’s okay. I talked to your parents before they left as well. It’s just sad that I can’t finish high school with my two best friends”, she said as she finally let her walls down for me.

“What do you mean, you still have Maryn”

“No, a week after you left her parents decided they wanted to move back to Europe”

“Really, why did they move back?” I asked confused. They’ve only been here for a year.

“I don’t know. She said it was something urgent with her family. Anyway, with you two gone, that leaves me with maybe 2 or 3 people in that school that are tolerable”

“Maybe if you stopped judging people so quickly, you’d actually see there are lots of nice people there”, I explained, still chuckling with her behavior. Hasn’t even changed a little bit.

“Whatever you say. Hey, I gotta go, Mom’s mad at me and she’s yelling again”, she mumbled and I immediately felt nostalgic.

“I don’t even wanna know what you did this time, Jenssen”

“Just the usual. By the way, you should totally give Benjamin a call. He’s been asking for you nonstop”

“Sure. I’ll call you soon, okay?”

“You better. See you later, Sullivan”, she said before we ended the call. This honestly made my day. I’m only realising now how much I’m actually missing everybody.

I turned to Alexander to thank him again but he’s angry expression made me freeze.

“Who’s Benjamin?” he spit and I slightly relaxed. He’s just jealous again, great.

“He’s just a friend”, I said and he stood up to say something but I stopped him.

“And before you say anything. No I don’t like him. Never have, never will. So can we just drop it and have a peaceful evening for once”, I added and stood up as well, pouting with the last bit. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh.

“Fine”, he said but I could still see he wasn’t happy with the concept ‘Benjamin’. Werewolves are really too possessive to my liking. They should have put that in the books…

I walked to him and wrapped my arms around his waist, resting my head against his chest. He immediately reacted and pulled me closer.

“Thank you”, I told him again but he just snuggled his face in the crook of my neck.

“I’m never letting you go now”, he whispered, earning a chuckle from me. I slightly pulled back, well for how far he’d allow me, and immediately connected with his mesmerizing  green eyes.

“Don’t be jealous”, I told him, my eyes not leaving his but he didn’t say anything, just continued to stare at me.

It keeps surprising me how incredibly handsome he is up close and it has me absolutely enchanted. I slightly leaned forward and slowly pushed my lips against his, taking the both of us by surprise. He instantly responded, kissing me back with a certain possessiveness. Like it would drive away every guy that even thought of looking at me. His arms slightly loosened around me as his hands started going up and down my body. I knew if I wanted to get away for now, I had to act quickly. I pushed him roughly against his desk, taking control of the kiss. I took both of his hands and placed them on either side of him, mine holding them down. He seemed to like the sudden change in my demeanor as he let me have full control. I kissed him for a little longer before I abruptly sprung back and sprinted to the door. I turned back only to see his confused face before sheepishly smiling at him.

“Catch me now sucker”, I said and I saw his lips turn up to the smirk I’ve come quite accustomed with. I raised an eyebrow at him and quickly ran, giving myself a head start.

I ran down the stairs as quick as I could but I felt him right behind me. Just when I was sure he was going to grab me, I leaped of the remaining few stairs and sprinted into the dinning hall. My eyes immediately found the others. I pushed my feet as fast as I could until I reached them and hid myself behind Amélie. I didn’t even care one bit how weird it might have looked.

“Don’t let him take me”, I whispered as he calmly came walking in. He darkly smiled at me and that’s when I realised I started something dangerous.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, sweetheart”, he spoke when he reached us, his voice incredibly low. I peaked over Amélie shoulder to look at the others for help but they were just smiling, amused by what was going on. Fine, I’ll fix it myself or at least I’ll go down trying.

“I didn’t do s**t so stay away”, I told him, still using Amélie as a barrier.

“If you didn’t do anything, then why are you hiding?” he asked, a cocky smile on his face.

“I’m not, you’re just too clingy”

“Oh really? That’s why you had me pushed up agai-“

“Allright, my innocent ears don’t need to hear this”, Amélie interrupted him and pulled me beside her. I looked back at Alexander and he had a sly look on his face, letting me know that I’ll be in trouble later.

“And I’m stealing Victoria anyway”, she added, making Alexander tear his gaze off of me.

“No, you’re not”, he instantly responded, glaring at her. Sometimes I really need to get this guy a chill pill..

“Yes, I am. We are gonna get ready together for tonight”

So eventually Alexander agreed and after dinner Amélie and I went upstairs to get ready. We didn’t do much ‘getting ready’ though and ended up laughing and talking about all sorts of things. It was only when the smell of smoke started filling Amélie’s room that we realised it was already dark out and the bonfire was probably about to start.

“Wow, time really flies when you’re having fun. We really have to do this more often”, she said, giving me a genuine smile.

“I’d love to. I’d never turn down some girl time, especially right now with Alexander following me around all the time”

“I’m just really happy you’re his mate. I don’t know what I would have done if some b***h would have turned up, acting like she owned the place”, she laughed.

“Well, I’ll take that as a compliment”

“You totally should. Anyway, we should get dressed though. I’m pretty sure if we take much longer, Alexander’s gonna show up and start whining”, she said and walked over to her dresser. She searched through it for a few minutes and eventually walked back with some clothes.

“Here. Since you’re human and it’s gonna get pretty cold”, she said and handed me a big oversized purple sweater and some leggings.

“Thanks”, I smiled and started to change. Amélie changed as well but wore a pretty sleeveless summer dress. I would freeze if I went out like that.

When I had everything on, I could feel the sweater coming to my knees. I knew it was oversized but on me it was just huge.  

“You look adorable”, Amélie commented as I stood just stood there, drowning in the sweater.

“Screw you, I’m just small”, I said and we left her room to go to the bonfire.

“So what’s it gonna be like tonight?” I asked her when we walked down the stairs.

“A lot of people from the pack are gonna be there and we’ll tell stories, have a laugh, have a drink… Just spend some time together”, she explained.

“Do you guys plan these a lot?”

“We try to have them every month, it just kind of depends”, she said as we stepped outside, the cool air already making me chilly. We walked a little bit deeper into the forest and as soon as we entered the clearing, my mouth dropped open. It looked amazing. A smile immediately came to my face and I heard Amélie chuckle beside me.

“Yeah, you’re gonna love this”, she told me before taking my hand and pulling me towards the fire. When we came closer, I saw a circle with familiar faces sitting a few feet away from the fire.

“Took you long enough”, Logan joked and Amélie wacked the back of his head before sitting down next to him. Next to Amélie was Veronica, then Louis, Chris, Alexander, Jill, Ashton and then Logan again.

Alexander patted the spot in between him and Jill and I quickly went over. I sat down next to him but he immediately pulled me up and placed me in between his legs, resting his chin on my shoulder. His arms snaked around me and I instantly felt warmer.

“So, what are we doing?”, Jill asked excitingly. It was pretty dark but the light of the fire lit up most of the area around us.

“How about we play never have I ever? That one always goes in funny directions”, Amélie said, looking at the boys of the groups.

“Sure, why not”, Chris said and the rest of the group nodded as well.

“Allright. Never have I ever gone skinny dipping”, Amélie started off and all of them put a finger down except for me. Veronica noticed and turned to me with a raised eyebrow.

 “Didn’t really have the chance to yet”, I said and without looking I knew there was a huge smirk on Alexanders face.

“Don’t make a silly comment right now”, I turned to him with narrowed eyes. His mouth turned into a smile and in the blink of an eye he pressed a soft kiss on my cheek, before placing his head back on my shoulder like nothing happened. My heart however started quickening and I felt my cheeks heat up. Oh, common. I’ve kissed him before so why on earth am I reacting this way.

“Never have I ever had a crush on a teacher”, Veronica went next and this time only Ashton put a finger down.

“Let me guess, miss Miller?” Jill turned her body to him, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Come on, babe. That was before I had you. But you gotta admit, she was hot”, he said, earning a slap on his chest from her. He chuckled and pulled her closer, which she immediately allowed.

“My turn”, Louis said next, rubbing his hands against each other .

“Never have I ever kissed someone from within this circle” Everybody except for him, Chris and Logan put a finger down.

“Who?” Alexander turned to Amélie, a serious expression on his face. So he’s not just an overprotective mate but an overprotective brother as well…

“Relax, I kissed Jill once when we were drunk”, she said and Jill threw a wink at her, before most of us started laughing. I looked at Ashton but he seemed to have no problem with it. I guess jealousy is just an Alexander thing then..

“Who did you kiss?” I curiously turned to Veronica and I felt the whole group tense up. Am I missing something here? She quickly covered it up and winked at me.

“It’s a secret”, Veronica told me.

“So who’s next?” she quickly added, turning to the rest of the group. Okay then…

“Never have I ever kissed more than five people”, Chris asked. Veronica, Ashton and I put our fingers down and I immediately received some looks.

“What?”

“Turns out our little Tori isn’t as innocent as we thought”, Logan joked but judging from Alexanders face and his grip around me slightly tightening, he obviously didn’t think of it as funny.

“Okay, next question”, Amélie saved me from any more questions.

“Never have I ever gotten a blowjob from a girl I didn’t remember the name off”, Ashton asked next and the boys all started to laugh. Logan and Alexander both put finger down. I don’t know why that bothered me, I mean I have no reason, but it did.

“That was a long time ago, you ass. So stop targeting me about it. You know what, I got one”, Logan argued with Ashton.

“Never have I ever had s*x with my best friends sibling”, Logan smiled sweetly at Ashton. He just laughed and put his finger down but all heads turned to me when I put my finger down as well. It was just a stupid summer fling with Lisa’s brother, nothing big anyway.

“WHAT?”, Alexander stood up, starring at me with wide eyes.

“Alex, calm down”, Amélie stood up as well and I turned to the group to see them all with worried expressions. Is he seriously mad right now?

“Alexander”, Chris cautiously walked towards him and I saw Alexander clench his fists, his face turning slightly red. Chris put a hand on his shoulder put he immediately pushed him away.

“f**k off”, he yelled and stormed off. I he seriously mad at me right now? He just admitted on getting a blowjob from a random chick so how was this worse?

“What on earth just happened?”, I asked them.

“Well, I guess It’s something different for wolves and humans”, Ashton said, my attention focussed on him.

“What is?”

“For werewolves in this pack, virginity has always been a big deal. We’ll fill our s****l needs in other ways until we meet our mate but we really see virginity as a promise to them”, Jill said and I felt my heart sink in my chest. But how could I have known that?

“So what do I do now?” I whispered as a lone tear trickled down my cheek. I don’t know how to explain how I felt but it was like all of a sudden I lost my worth.

“Hey, don’t cry. Go talk to him, human principles are different from ours and he knows that”, Jill spoke, putting a hand reassuringly on my back. I nodded and silently walked through the people to get back to the house. I looked to my left and saw Chris walking with me, a small smile on his face.

“Don’t worry, he loves you either way”, he said. I’m not so sure anymore…

He walked me all the way to the fourth floor and stopped when we reached the top of the stairs.

“He’s in his room”, he said and I nodded.

“Thanks”, I told him and turned around, making my way to the bedroom.

I slowly opened the door and saw him sitting on the bed, his face resting in his hands. I closed the door behind me and approached him, stopping a few steps away from him.

“Alexander?” I asked but he stayed quiet.

“Alexander, please talk to me”, I begged as another tear made it's way down.

I heard him take a deep breath and his eyes finally came up to meet mine.

“I don’t know what to say Victoria”, he spoke monotonously. He doesn’t want me anymore and that idea alone hurts more than I thought it would.

“I’m so sorry”, I sobbed and looked down, feeling like absolute s**t.

“Please, don’t apologize”, he spoke and took my hand, making me look up.

“But I don’t want you to be mad at me”

“I’m not mad Victoria. I just thought that-“, he started but stopped, running a hand through his hair.

“I hoped that you’d be completely mine and mine only”, he added and gave me a really desperate look. We stayed quiet for a little longer before he pulled me towards him and put his arms tightly around me. I immediately broke down into sobs as he softly caressed my back.

“I’m sorry love, please don’t cry”, he whispered in my ear.

“I just feel like I’m not good enough for you anymore”, I croaked out between my sobs. He pulled slightly back and rested his hands on my cheeks, his eyes staring deeply into mine.

“Don’t you ever say that again. I don’t blame you, nor will I ever. I know it’s different with humans and I should never have snapped at you but it just was something my wolf and I didn’t expect. It doesn’t take away any of you value because you’re still the same person that loves to annoy me, is incredibly strong and that makes me happy without even knowing. You are and always will be the most important thing in my life. Don’t you ever forget that”, he said and by the end I was a completely in awe, tears still calmly making their way down.

“I’m kinda waiting for you to call me cheesy now”, he said, making me laugh.

“There, you’re way prettier when you smile”, he added, making the butterflies in my stomach go crazy. Damn, I think I’m in love with this man…

Am I really?

I think I am really falling for him after all…

I felt him wipe away my tears with his thumbs before pulling me closer again. He rested his head on my chest while I stood in between his legs.

“You really gotta fix those mood swings though”, I said and I felt him chuckle while I started playing with his hair.

“You know as an alpha, everything is heightened for me”, he whispered, nestling his head to get comfortable.

“So you’re basically just an emotional wreck”, I joked.

“Your emotional wreck”, he corrected me and I chuckled. i***t…

“Whatever you say”, I whispered and leaned my head on his, closing my eyes.

“And you’re mine”, I heard him whisper.

“Forever mine”
