I decided to call all the business partners I was to have meetings with and reschedule the meetings again. When I called them they all asked why I wanted to reschedule the meetings when I was supposed to be on my honeymoon.
I quickly told them that I had divorced Damien this morning and we are no longer husband and wife.
They all started asking questions trying to know what happened but I didn't tell them I can't be the headline of a gossip this coming week.
They all rescheduled the meeting with me and I was happy. At least even though I just had a failed relationship that doesn't mean I would neglect my company.
Later in the afternoon my lawyer called and said that Damien had signed the divorce papers and the divorce is effective from today hence forth.
I was happy. I had inner peace. But my heart still grieved at the turn of events

Finally it's Monday again. I woke up early, dressed up for work, put on light makeup and went to my company.
When I arrived at my company and entered the reception, My staff were all looking at me as if they had seen a ghost
“Why are you all looking at me? Have you all seen a ghost? Don't you know how to greet your boss or do you want to get fired this morning” I said calmly
They all started to compose themselves and started apologising then greeted me.
When I went to my office my secretary followed me.
She greeted me and when I responded she popped the question that I know everyone wants to ask
“Ma’am is it true you divorced your husband just a day after the wedding”
I looked at her. I didn't want to answer but I just decided to
“Am I supposed to say in a marriage that I get cheated on on my wedding night”
She looked at me with surprise in her eyes
“No ma’am you did the right thing, Men”
She said
She handed me some files
“Ma’am this are the documents for today's meetings”
I smiled at her
“Thank you dear”
She gave a bow and left
After a few minutes my parents badge into my office with my secretary who looked like she was trying to stop them
My father walked up to me and slapped me
“Are you mad why did you divorce Damien”
he roared at me
I maintained my composure
“Am I supposed to stay with a man that cheated on me on my wedding night with my own step sister and call me unreasonable”
He looked angry and my step mum didn't even look ashamed
“Yes that's unreasonable, how would you divorce him because he cheated on you with Alice, don't you know that's not how marriage works. The two of you are supposed to talk it out. now our family has become the laughing stock of the whole city”
My dad shouted in anger
“Well dad am not like mum who just sat there and watched you cheat on her with this thing here and have an illegitimate child and do nothing”
He wanted slap me again but this time I held his hand
“Dad, just because you cheated on mum and mum allowed it doesn't mean my ex husband would cheat on me and I would allow it. What Damien did was wrong and I wouldn't take it. We are divorced now if he wants to marry Alice he is free to do so. I mean that is what he should have done instead of wasting three years of my life”
My dad looked at me with an a face of guilt
“Dad, they are free to do whatever they want. We are divorced now”
My secretary was just looking at us. Well she knows all about my family drama and she always gives me advice anytime I get stressed out about these people. She stood at the doorway of my office and gave me a thumbs up
“So you have seriously made up your mind” Dad asked
“Yes , the two of them can be together. I don't care anymore”
My step mum looked at me as a smile formed on her lips
“Finally you are being sensible”
She said holding my father's arm
“We would send you an invite to their wedding”
My dad looked at her and then looked at me. He gave me an expression I have haven't seen in years
He looked like he was regretting something
“Aurora, just because Damien cheated on you with your sister doesn't mean she can marry him. Think about your decision before it to late”
The smile on my stepmother's lips disappeared and looked like she just got disappointed.
Maybe she is the person who told Alice to do what she did. She has always been the mastermind of some of the mischievous things Alice has done to me while we were growing up
My dad turned and left my office with my Stepmom
My secretary came to me
“Ma’am it's a good thing you made it clear for them. They don't even deserve your explanation”
I smiled to her
“Thank you. Please get me a cup of coffee”
She gave a bow and left my office closing the door behind her
I collapsed on my chair as I could feel tears gathering in my eyes.
I quickly took my handkerchief and cleaned it away immediately
I have a meeting in a few hours. I don't want to attend it looking miserable.
My secretary brought my coffee for me and I thanked her
After a few hours of work my secretary informed me that some of my business partners have arrived at the company and are waiting for me at the meeting room.
I adjusted my suit and applied a little makeup then I left to see them
When I walked in, the room was silent not because of my divorce but because Damien's father was part of the meeting today and he has 5% shares in my company.
When the meeting started I decided to cut ties with him. I announced to the meeting room that I would be returning Damien's father's shares to him with immediate effect.
Damien's father tried to talk me into keeping him as a shareholder in my company but I truly want to let go. I don't want to have anything to do with Damien and his family.
The whole meeting room was surprised and many asked why
I told them the reason for my divorce and why I am doing what I am doing.
The meeting lasted for hours and after the meeting It was office closing hours so I cleared off my desk so I can go home
