Prologue
Sonya
Sonya couldn't sleep. She sat up and went to the kitchen. She opened the fridge, took out a bottle and drank the whole bottle of water. When she was going to her room back, she looked outside. She looked at the moon and smiled.
Shane
Shane came out of the bar with his friends, laughing and taunting each other about the girls they couldn't keep their eyes off. One of his friends said, It's impossible to love someone without l**t”. “Little did they know how wrong they were” Shane thought to himself. He fell silent. He looked at the moon and smiled.
Chapter One
Sonya
Someone called from downstairs “Sonya come down. Stop pretending you are asleep.”
Sonya huffed but made her way downstairs. She recognized her mother's voice so well that she can recognize it in thousands of people's voices. When she came downstairs she made her way to the dining table and sat herself down on a chair.
Her father asked her “How she's going to manage her new school transfer?” Sonya looked at her father and tried to give a half smile. Her father didn't actually know what was going on in her life, but he showed like he cares about her life. “I'll manage dad. Like I always do.”
The dinner went like it always does.
Some talk about Sonya's life than their work.
Meanwhile, she tried to calm her nerves about the school transfer that she was going to attend from tomorrow. After dinner, she went to her room.
A little later her mom came into her room and knocked on her door. Sonya was just sitting on her bed and looking up at the ceiling. She nodded her head to tell her mom to come inside. Her mom came inside and popped herself on her bed.
“From tomorrow, you'll start a new school. So you need to focus on your studies and I don't want to see you getting distracted again.” She was talking about the time when Sonya was “discovered” doing wrong things, such as watching p**n.
Even if she was seventeen, she didn't know about s*x properly and was trying to watch a visual effect of what it actually was. Before that she thought that “making out” was s*x but later she discovered how wrong she was. Sonya gave her mother a serious nod and said “I won't let anything distract me from my goals mom.”
Her looked at her daughter and nodded her head. Her mother told her to go to sleep, so she will be up early for her new school. She thought and said “f**k my life.” and dozed off.
Next day Sonya woke up early. She slept while her subconscious mind was still awake from the thought of going to a new school. She got ready and thought good things and memories about her previous school but Sonya knows how to make herself stay in present and reality even if it's unpleasant.
Sonya went downstairs and ate her breakfast, she reminded herself her mantra for fears “If you face problems earlier, without delaying they will go faster away.” She got in a car with her Dad and Mom.
She remained quiet throughout her journey to school and hoped the worst case scenario could happen to her new school. It always worked for her to hope for the worst situation that could happen to her so when they actually happen then at the very least it will hurt less.
Considering the fact that she already imagined that or worse than that situation. She learned it the hard way in her previous school that whenever she hoped for something good then she somehow ended up getting a totally opposite.
Some people might say that she is just imagining it and Sonya agrees with it, but she could not rationalize her thinking. Puff! “I'll handle whatever is going to happen, please god just let this day over with.”
Sonya thought to herself. And just when she looked out the window of her car, she was greeted with a tall building/school. “Welcome to hell”. Sonya thought to herself. A new life starts.
Chapter Two
Sonya
Sonya's father stopped the car and turned to Sonya.
“Hey there, you ready for your new school?” he asked.
“Yes, dad. I am ready.” Her father smiled and turned to her mother “Well then, let's go.”
Sonya's mom and dad went in with her daughter even though she told them earlier she can manage herself. As she started walking inside she saw guys and girls wandering around at any free space they could find, in their uniform.
Girls were all wearing brown skirts and white shirts and guys were wearing brown pants and white t-shirts. She was wearing the same uniform but was feeling a hell lot of discomfort among this crowd.
She, of course, couldn't find any familiar face. Sonya thought about how she's going to adjust here considering the fact that she's an introvert and usually ignore people because she is awkward at having small talks.
In her previous school she was comfortable with her personality and being an introvert. Everyone there came to understand that she liked to be left alone. They did not ask her any questions when she went to the library during lunch instead of cafeteria.
She usually got hungry but didn't like to eat alone. It's not that she can't but people around her look her with pity in their eyes.
And of course, it made her uncomfortable. But here, in this place it became a totally different story. Usually it took her one whole year to adjust to a new place but what is she going to do when she enters this place in sophomore year?
“Sonya?” her father calls her, “What are you thinking?”
“Nothing” Sonya replies.
“You have your timetable?” Sonya nods. “Alright then go in. It's going to be eight am, your first class is going to start very soon.”
“Alright.” Sonya replies. Sonya's father hugged her and her mother waved her goodbye. Ok God…… Stay with me. She looked down at her timetable and saw that history is in the first period. Room no. 20 A.
She looked up and entered her school. There was a board on a sidewall which says that she has to take the stairs and have to walk in the left-hand corridor and in the end she will find the room.
She does the same and reaches the room. She enters the room and finds that the room is already half filled with students. Sonya did not want to sit in front hence she went straight for the back benches.
She did not look up because she didn't want to attract attention. As she took a seat, a group of boys entered the room laughing their a*s off.
Their voices roared around the room but no one seemed to give them attention. Sonya thought “it must be the group she needs to stay away from.”
Their loud voices which she can describe as noises, must be common for this class. But her bad luck, those boys seems to come exactly in her direction.
Sonya was looking down when there came a tap on her shoulder. She looked up and saw a boy from that group looking down at her.
“You are sitting on our desks.” Sonya looked at his group and said “I don't see your name written on these seats.” Now when she looked around, the whole class was quiet and listening to their conversation.
There was pin drop silence in that whole damn classroom. A girl who was sitting just next to her said “You are a new student, aye?” Sonya replied with “yes.” s**t! This is what she didn't want, this attention.
“Listen, no one's name is written on their seats but these seats are fixed for us.” The girl next to her said it with disdain in her voice. Alright fine, whatever.
Sonya was just going to stand up when that guy who told about the seats said “It's alright Jessica. We'll sit somewhere else.” The girl named Jessica raised her hand to protest but that guy put his hand on her shoulder and said “Chill.”
He gave Sonya a look that she can't decipher and went in the middle row's back and sat down with his group. All class starts talking again but Sonya doubted they all were talking about her.
Offo! If she knew that it would create such a scene in front of the class she would have given her seat then and there. She was about to look at the group when the bell rang.
Chapter Three
Sonya
Sonya turned her face to that group but she didn't even have a chance to look at them when the bell rang. She turned her face to her professor who just walked in. Sonya sank more into her seat and tried to avoid any sort of eye contact.
Sonya has a very strong eye contact. Not creepy, just strong. Whenever she made eye contact with anyone she made them look in her direction. She always tries to have normal eye contact with people but guess what? Yup, she is unable to. Not such a big surprise huh?
A woman walked in wearing jeans and a normal shirt, nothing fancy. Everyone in class took their seats and settled down.
“Hello everyone, My name is Olivia Kristy and I'm going to teach world history to this class. Welcome to the first day of sophomore year. Most of you know me and ... hold on a second.” She scanned the whole class and stopped when she spotted Sonya. Then she scanned the rest of the class and again her eyes settled on Sonya.
She looked at Sonya. Sonya made eye contact with her professor and seemed to regret it instantly when her professor smiled at her. Her professor said “Ah! We have only one new student. So what's your name dear?” Sonya straightened her back and sat with confidence. “My name is Sonya. Sonya Allison.” She replied with a straight voice.
“Alright Sonya, where you're from and are you liking the school so far?” Her professor asked. “I'm from Australia and I just got here, so I can't really tell how it is at school.”
“So far it seems (awful), good.” Sonya replied with a nod. “This school is great, you're going to love it. Just try to make friends and try to enjoy it here.”
“Just make friends? Hmm I can do that. Like I've been making friends throughout my life. For God's sake, isn't there a life without friends? Why does everyone want me to make friends?” Sonya thought. “Yeah, I will try my best.” Ms. Or Mrs. (who knows) Kristy smiled and said “Good. OK so moving on…” her voice trailed off as
Sonya again rested back onto her seat. She had noticed how the whole class went quiet when she spoke. Sonya looked over her shoulder and found that everyone in that guy's group was looking at her. They don't have a mean face on but just looking at her. Her eyes caught with that guy (peace buster). She quickly turned back not awkwardly but normally.
She didn't want to see any of their faces. She took out her notebook and started taking notes. Rest of her class went like this. As the bell rang again indicating that class was over. Sonya picked her bag, pushed all her stuff in the bag and got out of her room.
There was time in her next class, so she thought that she should look for the library. This building was huge which covered a big area. Because of these maps were pasted on many places. She found one of it and found out where the library was. She went in and filled the library card. Sonya went to the issueeturn counter and activated her card. For a few minutes she explored the library.
She went to the section of history and found some books related to world history. As she was looking at a book while walking when she bumped into someone. She instantly said sorry as a reaction. She saw a girl wearing glasses cowering away from her saying sorry. “Alright… See god I'm not the only weird person in this world.” Sonya thought to herself.
She went to the issue counter and issued the books. Sonya looked at her timetable to find that her next class was English. “Let's go.” Sonya said to herself, her voice barely audible. Oh! Hold on a second. Sonya checked her poorly stuffed bag and took out a slip of her locker. She did not check her locker. So she first went to search for her locker and found it.
