Kaine

I was in the middle of a meeting when I heard the ding of my text notification, I thought I had turned it off. I quickly apologized and took it out of my pocket and muted it after seeing it was from an unknown number. I pocketed my phone not bothering to read the message and continued on with the meeting.
When I finally got out of the meeting I took my phone from my pocket and read the text. 'Hey what's your face! You and the other need to get your asses down here. Jen is getting mega mad with this alpha dude that came to the pack ceremony stuff. Come calm her down before she starts a war.' By the message I can assume that it's either by her brother or that other guy there. Who was this alpha dude? What gives him the right to even be in her presence!?
I felt my blood begin to boil. My wolf started to push its way to the surface and my eyes began to darken. "Kaine!" I heard my brother yell at me. My head snapped up and I growled at him in question. "Let's go ask." He gave me a lopsided smile and I felt my mood start to lighten. I stood up and we both hurried to catch up with him. I noticed Abel just following me as he checked the schedule.
When I finally saw him I smiled and ran up to him "Xander! I got a big favor to ask!" He stopped and looked at me. "Can you let me and Abel go visit our mate? Just for today and tomorrow. "
Xander smiled and looked over at me. "Kaine Abel, you can both go for a couple days. Just leave me a detailed schedule that you both have to do-"
Able interrupted. "Already done and sent to you. Bye." Able was out of the room in the blink of an eye causing both of us to laugh. I gave a brief goodbye and followed suit with my brother. It took probably 30 minutes to pack our stuff and get ready to leave.
I text the number. 'Does she know we ate coming?' The number didn't respond until about 10 minutes later.
'No, it's a surprise. She has been way too stressed lately, so we wanted to give her something to calm her down. Luckily her brother knows her password to her phone.' The way they phrased that made me mad. I hate the idea of them snooping through her stuff. I didn't respond and just stared out the window while Able drove. Once we got to the airport about 2 hours away we went in and bought tickets for the nearest airport to her, luckily the plane had some more seats and was leaving shortly.

The hunters would be here in about an hour, meaning I had to find the hunter they're looking for first. I am standing by the packhouse trying to remember the path I had taken all those years ago. At the time I was just running, not paying attention at all to where I was going. So I'm just gonna run as straight of a line as I can from the window I had crawled out of. I sighed as I shifted. The silence filled with the cracks and pops of my body reshaping itself into my white and black wolf. Serena took control from there and ran off into the woods jumping and weaving through the woods quickly. I didn't even recognize this path until she stopped at a hollow tree in the woods where I remembered hiding my brother. The scent of him was there no longer but I didn't need it because Serena took off again. It's as if she remembered it better than me. After about 5 minutes we came upon an old wooden cabin; it was small with moss completely covering one side. I shifted back to my human form and pulled a hoodie over my body before cautiously walking up to the door and knocking. There was a shuffling before a small child opened the door.
"Hello? Who are you?" The boy hid behind the door while glaring at me from the crack he left open.
I smiled softly. "Hello, are your parents home? I urgently have to talk to whoever owns this cabin."
The boy is very cautious before shutting the door and running off somewhere in the house. After a couple minutes of complete silence I heard footsteps coming back up to the door: they were heavier than the boys as well as slower. There was a click before the door flew open and a woman that couldn't be any older than me opened it, holding a gun in shaky hands and pointing it at me. "Who are you!? What are you doing here!?" Her voice cracked and her chocolatey skin glistened with sweat.
"I am Jennifer Alpha of the pack that you are currently living on the grounds of. Are you the hunter that lives here?" I spoke calmly and studied her features. It was obvious she was terrified but this woman wasn't going to shoot me. She couldn't be the hunter. She didn't even take the safety off.
"Yes!" She said quickly and glanced back for a split second before looking at me again. It was a bad lie, and she was obviously trying to protect someone.
"In that case please explain to me why a group of hunters are trying to enter my territory to get to you." Her face paled to a gray almost. It almost looked like she was going to pass out. "Ma'am, I know you're not the hunter here. Please let me talk to them so that I know whether or not I should let them or not. And so that I will know if my decision could cause a horrible fight that my pack can not handle."
She lowered the gun slightly and looked back behind her. "P-please-" she turned quickly to look at me. "Please don't let them through. " her voice was shaking and her body trembling. "I can't let them get to my father, he's old and can't hardly move anymore." She dropped the gun and held onto my shoulders tightly.
"Can I please speak with him?" It was more of a demand than a question.
She nodded and hesitantly grabbed my hand and led me in. We went to a room on the other side of the cabin. When she opened it there was an elderly man sleeping in bed peacefully. I walked over to him and lightly shook him awake. His eyes fluttered open and he looked at me with wide eyes. "Who are-"
I cut him off. "I'm Alpha Jennifer. Explain to Mr why there are hunters coming to my pack in search for you-"
"Impossible!" He yelled as he sat up slowly. "The girl died many years ago! I shot her with my own bullet!" I felt my body stiffen and I subconsciously reached for my side.
"Yes you did, but" I lifted the hoodie up and pointed to the scar that the bullet left "I'm far from dead. So, answer my question." He stared at the bullet mark until I dropped the cloth back down.
"How are you alive-" he started and I glared at him getting impatient.
"Why are the hunters coming for you!" I growled loudly.
"I-.... they are looking for a product I made…" he starts to reach for something.
"What product and stop reaching for whatever you are."
He stopped his face turning into a scowl. "Why should I tell you!?"
"Oh, so I guess that means I have a reason to kill you." I said lowly while glaring at the man.
His face remained neutral but I could see it on his face that he was scared. "Tell me what the product is." I growled louder.
He grumbled and glared at me. "A dissolving bullet. "
"Explain. " u crossed my arms.
"It's a silver bullet that dissolves when tried to be removed from." He said simply and my body stiffened.
"Why are those hunters coming here?" I asked, shifting my weight to one foot.
He sighed deeply. "Because I shot an alpha and they finally found out it was me that shot you."Everyone thought you had died. And you should've died that night."
I scoffed, hunters aren't allowed to shoot any wolf unless it is trying to reveal its identity to the public of humans. The town in my territory has known for centuries. Our pack had been a safe haven for rouges for as long as I can remember. Rouge shifters, Rogue vampires, and rogue witches all come to that town for protection. My father used to take in all the wolves into the pack and the other rogue species that weren't wolves stayed in the town for as long as they needed to sort through their lives; they usually stayed a few years max. Most stayed a couple months. Because the town was so small we shared a school with a few nearby packs. The humans from the town all knew they were weaker than the other wolves, but that never stopped any of them from talking back with all of the wolves; most humans didn't take any s**t. I always loved how strong everyone was.
"Give me one reason I shouldn't hand you over to them." I glared down at him pushing out my aura.
He visibly flinched. "Because they will take the bullet I made and mass produce it."
I lowered myself down to where our noses touched. "Not if I destroy all evidence of them." I grin grew across my face as horror flashed on his.
