"Momma, what's a mate?" I looked up into my mom's hazelnut eyes expectantly.

"Well honey bun, a mate is someone that you love more than the world. Someone that you would throw everything away for." Her soft nostalgic voice always gave me the answers I needed and wanted.

"Who is my mate?" I asked, letting my curiosity run.

"You won't know until you're all grown up" her warm smile was contagious. My father was the alpha of this pack. One day this pack will be all mine to rule.

"Is it ok that I don't want a mate?" I looked down feeling my father's eyes on me from the otherside of the room.

"Do you wish to run this pack in the future?" She knew the answer to this so why was my mom asking me this? I just simply nodded. "A mate is your perfect other half. They make you stronger and a better leader. And one day they will give you pups such as yourself for that our pack can live on."

My mother was very smart. She went to top school and was on course to have a top job amongst the werewolf government. My mother was very smart …. But she was a fool. She came to this pack and married my father. She became the Silver Moon's pack luna! Everyone loved her. They all envied her. No one else knew the secrets of my mother. Not even my mother. She had persuaded me to think that my father did know. I mean after all they were mates!

Mates. Mates. Mates. The person that has their soul bound to you. The person that the moon goddess herself picked out for you and only you. Mates, the people who can make you the strongest. Or the people who can leave you the weakest.

Blood. All I see is blood. A tall delicate black haired woman. Standing over me. With the blood of the man she claimed to love more than anything all over her disgraceful hands. My mother. Her eyes are a disturbing red. Glaring at me. Blood lust is all I could smell. Blood was all I could see. Then a speck of white. A speck of white from the corner of my eye. My baby brother. She saw him too. I had to protect him and everyone else. I had to kill my mother didn't I?

A scream, a horrific scream filled my ears. It was not my own voice nor was it my mother's. My brother had woken from a nightmare and he needed comfort. An unknown rogue busted through the house. They were gonna kill me and take Justin. I couldn't let that happen!

I sat up in a cold sweat panting heavily. I heard fighting. I let my eyes adjust and looked around. I was in the packhouse common area. The kitchen is where the voices were coming from. I could tell Justin, Nathan, Seojoon, some squeaky girl voice, then two husky deep voices that were like music to my ears.

I stood up slowly and shuffled up to my room. I grabbed my medicine, took them, then walked back downstairs. They had all moved into the living room. I walked around the long way and slipped into the kitchen and put away all of the groceries. I grabbed an apple then went to the old training grounds. I walked out to a shed and found the ax then started sharpening it. I sat on the porch sharpening it.

"Jen we have guests" Justin jail softly as he walked outside shutting the door behind him.

"I'm aware of that. I've already noticed them as not a current threat." I knew they were my mates. I just didn't want to see them.

"Yes but they are-" he started but I cut him off.

"My mates, yes I know." He stared at me for a moment.

"Do you not want them?" He asked surprised

"I never said that Justin."

"Then what?"

"I'm working, I don't need to have people smothering me." I refuse to tell him. I will not ruin his view of her. "Also I'm doubling your laps tomorrow"

"WHAT?" He screamed.

"Ya you ditched it today I double it tomorrow that's how it works." I smirked at him "now go to bed you're gonna need the rest for tomorrow morning~" I know I'm hard on him but that's the only way he gets it. The only way I keep him on track.

He stomped back inside and I continued to sharpen the axe. However it wasn't long until Nathan came out with an exasperated sigh

"What happened back there?" I know what he's referring to.

"When?"

"When we were walking and you collapsed out of nowhere. I had to carry your fat ass here. I was actually kinda worried this place was completely trashed but damn girl you really cleaned this s**t hole up." I couldn't help but laugh at this and he smiled.

"You're a real piece of work y'know that" I smiled while he scoffed.

"I'm the main attraction babe"

"Sorry to tell you honey but no one sees an ego they already have their own. "

"Say you princess, I have ladies lining up at my doors."

"Talk of the town! Magic mut! Come get your picture now he's acting like a bozo the rest of the time!" I yelled as if it was a newspaper caption.

We both broke out laughing and I stood up wiping a tear of joy from my eyes. "God damn girl! Why do you gotta attack me like that." He hardly could get the sentence out between laughs.

"Because it's so easy." I said finally catching my breath

After a while we both went inside to the kitchen just to be met by two pairs of honey eyes. I froze for a moment before continuing to the fridge.

"Oh so the two that harassed me at the other pack and at McDonald's. '' I said pointing from Kaine to Abel. I turnt and got a water bottle from the fridge as I heard both of them whimper.

"Sorry…." Kaine was the first to speak up and Abel just nodded in agreement.

"Uh-huh so why are you both here" I know my voice probably sounded harsh but I couldn't really help that. They are technically trespassing on my territory. Being my mates is besides the point.

"Um well we noticed that you were really far from your pack-"

"That's not my pack never was never will be"

"Um right….anyway we thought something was off so we came here to see what was going also we figured that sense it was your birthday today. Happy birthday by the way."

"Oh wait, today's my birthday-" all three of them looked at me like I was an i***t.

"Gurl what the actual f**k" Nathan spoke up looking at me like I just grew a head.

"How did you forget your birthday when you knew it was my birthday?" Justin walked in laughing his ass off.

"Oh shut it" I mumbled looking away.

"Mame me!" He yelled at me and I smirked looking back at him seeing the immediate regret on his face. "Wait wait I'm sorry I didn't mean to "

"Too late." he ran off and I followed right on his tail.

Abel

I admired my beautiful mate as she walked in. She was wearing black leggings and a black sports bra. It showed her curves off really well. She had her blonde hair in a bun. Her perfect heart shaped lips and plump round ass. She smells like peppermint and gingerbread cookies. It reminds me of a Christmas dinner.

I found myself pulled out of my thoughts again when she chased the boy she called Justin. We walked into the living area just to see Jennifer jump over a couch and tackle Justin pinning him to the ground.

"Your such a b***h!" Justin screamed at her making me and Kaine growl.

They both ignored us and she whispered into his ear. "I'm the b***h get it right beta"

Due to our our enhanced hearing we could hear her plain as day. I heard Andrew, my wolf, purr in my head. "Our mates so strong!" He cooed through our mindlink.

I smiled "I know right." I said back through the mind link.

"Mark her!" He yelped excitedly.

"I can't yet we want her to accept us not kill us and reject us." I said sternly. "Besides after what happened at the McDonald's I'm not listening to your advice."

He barked at me warning me to stop while I'm ahead. And I just snarled back. I suddenly got elbowed in the side and I flinched looking over at Kaine arching a brow. He shook his head and pointed down. I looked down to see Jennifer looking up at me.

"Hm?" I met her eyes with my own. I couldn't read her expression….it kinda worried me.

"Bend down some" I did as told and Andrew became ecstatic as she reached up and ran her hands through my hair. She was petting me? I don't know but it felt good. "Good." The praise from her gave Andrew that last little push over the edge.

He ripped the control from me. It was like I was still doing it and feeling everything bit I couldn't control anything. Andrew picked her up buried his nose in her neck and gently leaned against a wall just breathing her scent in.

"Put me down wolfy. " She said softly in my ear. Andrew hesitantly did so but he refused to let her go or move his nose from her neck. He calmed down as she started to pet my hair again. We weren't going to mark her or anything but we also weren't going to let her be taken from us. That was until I remembered the one thing in life I didn't want to share I had to share with my brother.
