Tanya's POV
I rushed downstairs because Glen just messaged to say he was waiting. I needed to see him. I ran into his waiting arms and wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed him. He embraced me and for the first time his kiss was fierce. I was amazed. There was something different about Glen. He was on fire.
"I've missed you." I exclaimed.
"I've missed you too." He was as equally thrilled as I was.
"I'm taking you to the mall." He continued with a grin.
"I love shopping." I beamed in excitement. At least it won't be my money this time.
It was the third store we've been to and so far, we've bought eight pairs of shoes and 3 bags of clothes. I have no idea where I'm putting those as I already have a collection in my shoe closet. I spent most of the time modeling shoes that I liked for Glen. As long as I liked it, he bought it. Tim, a guy Glen introduced earlier, has made two trips to the car because there's no way we can carry all those shoes at once. This man was spoiling me and it's just what I needed to keep my mind off of Derick.
'I'm hungry." I stated.
"What would you like?" Glen asked.
The mall was lined with restaurants and cafes that made it difficult to decide.
"I know a Korean spot." I loved Korean food.
"Whatever you say my queen." He had a way with words.
"It's on the other side of the top floor of the mall." Since we were downstairs.
"Ok the escalator is right there." Glen pointed ahead of us.
"I'll put these in the car and meet you back here." Tim stated.
"That's ok," Glen responded. "You'll meet us upstairs."
As we got to the top of the escalator Glen froze in his tracks.
"Glen what are you doing?" she yelled.
"Silvie what are you doing here?" He knew who she was.
"Who is she?" She asked with an attitude.
"Who she is, is none of your concern." Glen responded, still being calm.
"What do you mean? It has everything to do with me. We're having a baby." She stated with the most squealing voice.
You heard that right. That b*tch is pregnant.
"Sylvie now is not the time." Glen stated.
"When is the right time Glen? You don't answer my calls but you're out here with this b*tch." she did not just call me that.
I stepped forward closing the gap between us. There's no way I'm going to allow this woman to call me out of my name. I lunged at her, but Glen got in the way.
"Don't." He shook his head at me.
I've had enough of this charade. I marched towards the exit.
"Tanya!" Glen called after me. I picked up the pace because I couldn't bear the sight of Glen.
I kept walking and didn't turn back. I could hear people mumbling as I walked past them. I was furious. Why did he protect her from me? Is this his wife? But he didn't have a ring? Omg she is pregnant. Why ask me out when you have a whole pregnant wife at home?
In no more than a week I found two men and lost them both. Was that God's way of punishing me for being greedy? He was supposed to be my shoulder to cry on to recover from Derick but now he is an even bigger disappointment.
Maybe I'm meant to be alone. Just that one thought caused my heart to ache. My eyes swelled and my vision became blurry. I entered the first cab I saw.
"Pub Delight," my voice crackled.
The driver looked at me in the rear-view mirror and knew not to initiate any form of conversation with me.
I handed him a fifty-dollar bill without asking for the cost of the fair. It was more than enough to cover a twenty-minute ride. The bar was practically empty when I walked in.
"Look who the cat dragged in." Shirl was happy to see me.
"It's only one week, Shirl." It was in fact only a week, but to be fair, I usually come three times a week. So, I see where she is coming from.
"Regular?" She asked.
"I'll have the whole bottle." I asserted.
"You can't drink your sorrows away you know." Shirl highlighted with a look of concern on her face.
"I'm damn near gonna try to." I had only one intention and that was getting f**ked up.
"You can talk about it, you know." She showed genuine concern.
"What's there to talk about? The fact that I got a man and lost him at the same speed." I downed a glass of liquor.
"If it's meant to be, it will be." She reassured me.
"You know what's interesting, that guy you bumped into the last time has been coming in here daily. Looks like he has sorrows too." Nothing gets past her. I tell you that much.
"Really, where is he?" I asked probing the bar with my eyes. I've been calling him, but he hasn't been answering.
"Maybe he's finally solved his problems. What's it to you anyway?" I told you nothing gets past her.
"Ohhh I see." She giggled. "With his fine ass I'd make him my problem too."
I couldn't help but chuckle. If only he'd answer my calls. I'd already guzzled half a bottle of the Grey Goose and more people were beginning to come into the bar. Shirl's eyes met mine and she was making strange gestures with her eyes and face. The fact that I was highly intoxicated, I couldn't make sense of what she was attempting to say, and I laughed loudly.
I needed to pee. As soon as I turned around, I bumped into someone, lost my footing and was about to fall when he caught me.
