I quickly hang up the phone without even checking the caller, I switch it off in the process. I can't walk away because they must have already heard me. So I decide to walk into the kitchen, just as Charlotte is coming to check.
"Mona?"
"Hi, came to get a glass of water." I'm so nervous that I can feel the shake in my voice.
"Did you just arrive?"
"Ahem. Yeah."
I just hope she doesn't think I heard their conversation. I pick the glass from the cabinet but my hands are shaking, it slides from my hand and crashes the floor, breaking into tiny pieces.
"Oh my God! Are you okay?"
Charlotte asks as she quickly walks to where I am. I don't know what made me to eavesdrop. I shouldn't have heard anything she said, because now my mind is having a lot of thoughts right now.
"I'm fine."
