PATH

Souna sat in the middle of the familiar room. Sunlight bathing her face while spinning the small blanket she was hoping to finish before winter came. A pair of hands encircling her waist and landing on her lower abdomen, gently tickling it. -You are distracting me- She smiled as Kabil´s hands continued undeterred all the way down between her thighs. Kabil lifted her in the air as easily as a leaf being blown away by the wind. His lips kissing her ardently and getting a muffled moan out of her. He leaned her down on their mat and rendered her bare naked in no time. She felt his hardened manhood pressing against her mount and she exhaled with thirst, yearning for him. He smirked at her sparkling lustful eyes. Quietly pushing himself inside her and breathing heavily as he made his way through. Souna cried in pleasure when her husband started sinking within her, his large figure moving gently along her wet crevices and making her quake all around his majestic member. Her vision clouding as his body collided with hers repeatedly in a blissful dance of love. Her senses numbing when they screamed euphorically in unison, her elixir spilling over him and saturating the ambiance as his seed dripped inside her. -You have been harboring quite an appetite these days, light of my life - Souna mumbled, drawing kisses down his broad back – I find it hard to keep up with your hunger. -I just want to spend time with my wife and future child- Kabil sighed with concern – After years of threats, they say Ashrae is attacking any day now. With this war looming over us, my men are anxious, and so am I. Let us make the most out of our time together before I die in battle. -You won't die, sun of my days- Souna replied, smiling and holding him tightly- You are the bravest warrior I have ever known. -Oh, but I will… Remember?- Kabil said sadly in a monotone voice- I will be gone before you know it and there is nothing you can do about it. Souna´s eyes widened in horror when a bloodied hole started forming in his chest, expanding and stretching impossibly until she noticed she could discern one of the golden-haired monsters staring menacingly at her through it. Her mouth opening and letting out a horrified shriek. She sat up startled and bathed in her own sweat, tears dampening her cheeks as memories came back rushing and pounding on her throbbing head. Her heart shattering for the thousandth time since she'd realized she would never feel his hands again. She would never hear his wonderful voice. Neither would they make love nor bear any life together anymore. After spending a long time crying, her soul aching with grief, she stood up from her makeshift shelter and dusted herself off. Then she grabbed the sack containing her few left possessions that doubled as a pillow and threw it over her shoulder. Taking a deep sigh and preparing to go on her way. There was a shallow creek nearby, where she took a sip and ate the last of the berries Anam had packed for her before leaving. She filled her flask with some running water before extending the map and tracing her route. She knew she should be close to Yahur by now. All she'd been doing was walking nonstop for days, the unfamiliar feeling of the boots on her feet annoying her somewhat. But she dared not to take them off as she had been warned about the damage the frozen ground could cause to her limbs. So, she kept them on and strolled forward from sunrise to sunset, trying to keep her mind from wandering towards her sorrows and focusing on each step she took while she gritted her teeth and carried on. As days went by, and she progressed into the shadowy woods, the forest had started shifting slowly, from its dark green shade to a perpetual bright, white snow. The sight of it reminding her that she was about to reach her journey's goal and urging her legs to keep moving on. To her knowledge and experience, the map showed she had less than a day left of uninterrupted walk before she could finally grasp the spot marked by the silver dagger that sparkled now just at her hand's reach… And this renewed her spirits. If she hurried, maybe she could get to Yahur before the sun went down. Maybe she could have a hot meal instead of cold water and seeds. Encouraged by the possibility of the slightest comforting event in her current life. Souna rolled the map and put it back inside the leather sack. She began walking immediately, her mind traveling to her memories from time to time. Only to reprimand herself a moment later and start reciting the old woman's lessons in her head. By now, she knew them by heart. Every warning and every word. But she found some kind of solace in repeating them aloud. So, she marched down the road decidedly, parroting the creed away. -“Aig Yahurah Nahe… Ahir Yahurah Kah, when serving none, we serve them all. While Yahurah means To Serve, Yahurians are not servants at all. They are warriors and safe-keepers, yet they serve no one but peace in itself, they fight for no one but their own fate. If you wish to be granted their favor, you will need to prove your destiny, you will need to show your worth”. The light sound of crackling leaves behind her made her stop her litany, swiftly jumping behind a large bush and rushing to hide herself. Souna waited in silence, feeling her heart race, as heavy steps approached her, increasing in force and speed. By their pacing she realized in horror they should belong to a large beast. With only a brief moment to debate between taking her chances and running for her life or staying hidden in her spot, wondering if the animal those steps belonged to would be able to catch her scent or not, she found herself frozen in place as a large and majestic black feline came into view. Her hands trembling and her mouth dropping open in abject fear, when she spotted the enormous golden-haired man that was riding it, her hand clenching in a fist. He looked exactly like the monsters that had killed Kabil, except for the metallic black mask strapped to the back of his head and covering his lower face. His blue eyes sparkling in the crepuscular light as he walked past the bush she hid behind. His long braid hanging over his shoulder, a large box lying over the beast's back, something she could not clearly see moving inside. “Could they have all reached Midland so soon?” She thought to herself. If they had, then she was already too late. But if he was just a lone scouter, then she might still stand a chance. Souna´s breath caught in her throat when the animal stopped right ahead of where she remained, crouched in fear, her nails digging into her palm. The man's head perking up for an insanely long second, before urging his critter to keep walking ahead. Once her lungs stopped threatening to shut down and her heart rate finally subsided enough, she took a deep breath and got out of her hideout to continue her quest. She'd barely brushed the leaves off her clothing and taken a couple steps, when the sharpened tip of a spear poked her back and made her guts drop to the ground. -Do you happen to have a death wish? - A deep voice asked behind her - How stupid are you to think you can sneak up on a Yahurian?
