I opened my eyes and was, like before, surprised that Kero was carrying me. But this time, he was cradling me in his arms. I groaned as I felt the pain radiate through me.
“Are you okay?” Chirpy asked. He leaned over me, covering the sun.
It took a second to remember what had happened. The last thing I could remember was the angry gaze of the queen in the castle. I felt the pain rush through me again. “No.” I said, truthfully. “What happened?” I asked, rubbing my head. I then looked up at Kero, who looked upset.
Kero looked at me. “The queen has an ability to hurt people just by looking at them.” He simply said.
“And she hurt me ‘cause I’m human?” I asked.
He nodded.
“Wow… she can hurt people by looking at them… she must be powerful.” I said, more to myself then to anyone else.
