Getting humiliated by Axel is not something I expected to happen, but it isn’t something beneath him either. He has been bitter since I became part of the council. Levi stepping up for me isn’t something I expected either, and although I am grateful, I do not want him acting like he is suddenly some savior. Axel might humiliate me publicly, but he will never be my mate who brought me dishonor, so no, Levi will never be my savior.
The meeting is over, and I grab my purse, heading out of the room. I need to pick Blue up from school.
“Are you okay?” Levi asks when I get to the door, and I pause in my tracks.
“Yes,” I reply, then he walks up to me as the room empties faster than I anticipate.
“I am really sorry for Axel’s behaviour, and…”
