The entire day, I keep working while cursing Levi for putting me up to the task. I thought it would be easy, but apparently the woman Billie was poisoned. She attended an event over the weekend, and she has been unwell since then. A friend poisoned her. That is another case for the police, and they are currently investigating. The entire day, I try to stabilize her, putting her on IV fluids.
I am so invested in her I do not even realize time has passed until I check the time.
“Nine!” I exclaim in panic, looking at my watch. Then I walk to one window, drawing the curtain open to see it is actually night.
I rub my temples, taking a deep breath. My mind races as I try to remember what it is I am forgetting, but it barely registers in my mind.
