The week had finally arrived—the week when Valeria presented her resignation deadline. As fate would have it, it fell on a Friday. Fridays were starting to be traumatic for Adrien Mckenzie. Especially when Valeria Richardson walked into his office unannounced, announcing in a firm voice that she had resigned, only to leave again without letting him react or be able to say a single word. He watched her leave with her huge purse dangling from one arm and a small cardboard box in her hands with the belongings she had there. When she disappeared from sight, Adrien stood up, somewhat excited, tapped his desk with both hands and then walked around his office, loosening his tie. Yes, he had vowed to resign. But the prospect of letting Valeria slip away without a fight was inconceivable to him
