Jahar-Nama: the heart of illegal activity  

The next morning Atul goes to the Police Station for helping the police on drawing the sketch of the man. He also gives the officers the card which was given to Atul by the strange man. The name on the card is Mr. Henry Hawkins. The address is written with a highlighted red color ink. When Nirmal sees the address it is of Dharamsala which is a suburb in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. So, he contacted the Dharamsala police and decides to go to the address themselves. Mr. Charles Jones and Jignesh insisted on going with them and they might be of help to the officers in finding the person.

Atul goes back to the village and he was asked not to disclose to anybody about this. The road to Dharamsala is about six kilometers from the district where they are residing now. It is beautiful scenery as the road goes between the mountains. The White Mountains look so beautiful when the sunlight falls on it that it seems like a golden spectacle. In the afternoon when the sun is overhead it covers the whole Mountain with its golden light that the scene can not be expressed in words, one will forget all his stress in life while traveling through this place.

Finally, they reach the Dharamsala police station nearly in the evening when the sun is about to set. One of the officers takes them inside the police station where they meet the chief officer with whom, Mr. Nirmal has talked. The chief officer greeted them and began,

“The address which you have sent us falls under our jurisdiction and is located in the interior and rural area. The place is famous for illegal activities like drugs, mafia, pandering for which it is very much famous for between the elite class and even the middle-class people who love illicit relationships and pleasure.”

When the officer is shown the portrait of the person he can not recognize him. When asked if the government have taken any action legally the officer replied that,

“We have our hands tied as many high profile personalities are associated with this, like politicians, celebrities, and even the underground world so no one can do anything.”

Apart from this, the officer said they can not help them in entering the place and finding the person as it may harm their profession and they might even get suspended or forced to resign their jobs. Hearing this the other cops, who accompanied Mr. Nirmal and Mr. Jones refused to go to the area as they do not want to lose their jobs as the entire family is dependent on their earning. So, they request Mr. Nirmal to grant them leave which he does.

Subsequently, after the cops leave Mr. Jones asked the other two persons namely the officer-in-charge and Jignesh if they want they can leave too. But, they replied that they want to help him and wants to know his future plans. First, he tells them that they have to find a hotel to stay and pass this night. They rent a hotel near the so-called illegal area. As it is late and they all are pretty tired Mr. Jones tells his companions to take decent rest as tomorrow will be a big day and they have to work very hard tomorrow. After this, they all went to their respective rooms.

The next morning Mr. Jones explains the entire plan to his companions i.e. Mr. Nirmal and Jignesh. They decide to go to the area which is mentioned in the card and find the person themselves. They have to change their appearance so that no one can recognize the three of them and considers them to be a friend. So, they go to a makeup artist in Dharamsala who changes their looks completely. Then they rent a luxury car and dressed them as an elite class family who is three brothers in relation. Mr. Jones is the elder brother, Mr. Nirmal being next in age and relation to Mr. Jones and Jignesh being the smaller and younger brother among them.

They decide to visit the area at night time when the entire area is active and working. The place is occupied by various hotels, pubs, and various bars. There are many women who work on giving pleasure to men through various services like body massage, illicit relationships, s****l intimacy, and kinds of stuff like this. This girl works in the dance bars waiting for the client. Most of them come to these services to support their families, daily needs, etc. They are forced to join such services as the circumstances force them to perform or serve these services. Sometimes they are even forced by their family members into the service of pandering.

It is nearly 9 p.m. when they arrived at the said location. The place looks like a fair of illegal drugs and other illegal activities. On the entrance to the area there is a banner which is well decorated with lights so that people who intends to enter the place unknowingly or unintentionally knows where they are about to enter. The name written on the banner is JAHAR-NAMA, which in Hindi means poison, warning the people that the place is not for tourists and the activities which happened inside the area is poisonous to the society and social life of normal people. After going a little bit inside they find the road is divided into three lanes, so Mr. Jones decides to go straight, and the other two companions Mr. Nirmal goes to the left lane and Jignesh goes to the right lane.

The lane which Nirmal chooses is full of pubs and restaurants. It is that part of the area where people come to gamble on different sports events and other things. Nirmal decides to enter into one of the pubs or casinos. It is a well-equipped place illuminated and well decorated. A huge LED screen is attached to the center of the pub in a pillar which can be seen from both sides as it has two screens on both sides. On the screen, one can see different kinds of sports along with the highest bid and name of the highest bidder and which side of the bod is winning. Some people are regularly updating the information on the other monitor which is located at a place that is easily visible to the visitors. It looks like the control center of the entire gambling area as below the screen an array of people are sitting opening their laptops and bidding on different stocks consequently updating the information regularly. Apart from this, there are card games playing all around the place, which is generally played by middle-class people. There are also casino machines through which one can earn money by playing on it and there are other games also like the pool, billiards, etc.

According to the strategy of Mr. Jones, Mr. Nirmal has to be one of them and mixed with the people present there. This will help to get the information for which they have come to this place. So, Mr. Nirmal chooses a group of people who are playing cards and offers to play with them. They first stare at him for a while when he replies “I am new here.” The people in the area are very friendly as we have seen earlier and the same thing is followed here also be it a place of gambling and illegal activity. Hence, they politely accept Nilesh's proposal and their humble behavior comes as a surprise to him, as we the ordinary people generally have bad feelings and assumptions about such people who gamble or go to illegal places or even associated with illegal works. That day Nilesh understands how awful and wrong feelings we have for such peoples, as not everyone is equal and ill-mannered.

The next comes Jignesh who has chosen the right lane. The place is surrounded by different buildings. These are mainly the brothels where men mainly visit to fulfill their s****l intimacy or pleasure. When Jignesh is passing through the lane, he can see many girls and women dress beautifully are waiting outside the buildings and talking to different persons and some go inside the buildings with the girls. There is also a massage parlor surrounding the area which is especially run by female workers.

When Jignesh is going through the place and taking the tour of the entire area a middle-aged man comes to him. He is in his forties and is wearing a golden chain in his neck and several rings in his hand. He approaches Jignesh quickly so that he does not go away from here. On reaching Jignesh he asked whether he wants to have a body massage and other things. He is quite desperate to take Jignesh inside a building. First, he hesitates a bit as he becomes quite nervous, but he agrees to go with him at last.

Both of them go inside a four-story building. One has to go through a passage into the central room on entering the building. In this passage, two-three girls are standing who teases Jignesh sexually when he is going through the passage with the man. They come into a room that does not have any such types of furniture except there is only a center table, few fashionable sofas for sitting, and no other notable things can be found in the room. The man requested Jignesh to take his seat in one of the sofas. After Jignesh takes his seat the man called some girls who appeared in front of Jignesh. They are looking gorgeous in beautiful dresses and among them, one girl attracts his attention.

For a time being Jignesh forgets that he has come there for a purpose and in order to help Mr. Jones in the investigation. He is so mesmerized by the beauty in front of him that he totally forgets about his propaganda after the arrival of the gorgeous girls. Then he points his finger on the girl he is most mesmerized by and the girl takes him inside a room. The ambiance of the room is very intimate. The room is filled with flowers all over and the bed is also covered in flowers. The fragrance of the room is so adorable Jignesh though he is in a world of fantasy. The girl who is standing looks to him like an angel or a goddess who is looking like a bright flower who is about to flourish and sprinkle his beauty all over the place and over him to a great extent. The young girl starts to sprinkle her beauty and moves on Jignesh, and he feels that an elf who is spreading her magic over him. Then the scene gets more intimate and they involve themselves in an illicit and s****l pleasure. That moment Jignesh felt like nothing matter to him that night and he forgets about all his stress in life.

Now comes Mr. Charles Jones who has chosen to go in the straight lane. First, there is a graveyard on this path. It is very different from other places as nothing is visible to human eyes in this area. The area is full of dusk, with no light visible in the entire area. Mr. Jones thought that there is nothing in this part of the area as he can not see any signs of human life nearby. So he decides to go back from there and follow the path which Mr. Nirmal has chosen. Therefore, Mr. Jones come back from the graveyard and turn to the right lane (left hand for Mr. Nirmal and right hand for Mr. Jones as he is coming from the opposite side.) When he enters the area his eyes are pleased to see so much of lights, human beings, and shops around him. He feels like he has just come from the world of darkness to a world of light in which he is standing now. He feels like the place has changed in a few minutes from darkness to full of light.

Me Charles Jones notices Mr. Nirmal sitting in a pub and interacting with a group of people according to his advice and so he has no intention of intervening Mr. Nirmal or his efforts. So, he decides to go further forward and enters into a dance bar. It is occupied by several people of the elite and middle class. The bar is well equipped with furniture. There are many fashionable tables all over the place. The main attraction is the dance floor which is located in the middle of the place. The stage is decorated with dim light making the overall ambiance more sensational for the audience. People in the area are drinking irrationally and unstoppable. There is also an area where people are fighting wrestling among themselves or showing their skills and the men who get the highest number of votes and appreciation from the crowd wins, and he gets to choose the girl of his choice and spend a night with her to get s****l pleasure and intimate relationship. This game of power and skills continue the whole night. Apart from this, there are girls who are continuously performing sensational dance moves to intimate the audience and sometimes join by the people who are watching their dance. This does not stop here the so-called elite class people bid for the girls and the highest bidder wins the girl of his choice from the lot of four, to spend and experience the pleasure of a lifetime.

Mr. Jones is quite shocked by seeing such business and how ill-treatment the girls received in this place. He felt disappointed for the girls, and he feels quite helpless for them and feels like both of his hands have tied. Mr. Jones felt quite ashamed on why he has to visit there and see all this, but he remembers the promise he has made Mrs. Singhania find her children and the murderer of her husband. Hence he decides to stay strong and walk as per the plan. He chose a corner table from where he can see probably the entire area and take his seat there. Mr. Jones ordered some beer for himself and try to be a part of the people present there and interact and mixed with them so that no one suspects him. When Mr. Charles is thinking about this stuffs he sees a person come and sits on the table next to him. It is the person they are looking for such a long time. The person is sitting right in front of him, but Jones decides not to interrogate him at once as he might know many people here and this will not be a good decision. So, he decides to keep an eye on him and see what he does and where he goes that night. In this way, the night proceeds while Mr. Nirmal is doing his duty, on the other hand, Jignesh is living in his world of fantasy and pleasure.
