Four: Remembering Would change it all > >> >> I wanted to take back that sentence so badly but obviously that was impossible. The worst thing right now was the fact that I could not read his face no matter how hard I tried. The fact that it was dark out did not help my case at all. His dark features just blended with the dim lighting and made it so much harder to even know what he had to be thinking. I wanted to calculate my next step, but there was no time for that. "Go on. I'm waiting." He said when I went quiet for too long. "I uhmm... First of all I want to apologise. I never do things like that, I am not even sure what happened for me to do that." I finally managed to get those words out, breathing a sigh of relief when I heard the cars starting down the road. "It doesn't look like you remember what you did, Daniella. Or am I wrong? Do you remember what you did?" He asked me, his gaze getting more intense as my palms got sweaty. I rubbed my hands dry on the sides of my shorts and only blinked several times. What could I have done? I knew I shouldn't have had that much to drink. Blacking out was not the plan, but it is what happened. What do I say? What do I say? "I'll take that as a no." He said when I took too long to answer. "I am so sorry for what I did." At least I hoped an apology would mean we forget all about it, right? "What are you apologising for? You really don't remember what happened, do you?" He asked me, confusing me further? "Do what you did and I will remind you." He insisted as he took a few steps towards me. "This feels right. This was the distance between us." He said before he suddenly reached for my hand, making me gasp and realise that I had not been breathing the entire time. He took my hand and placed my palm flat over his abs. I could feel how defined they were through his dress shirt and I was already dying to rip his clothes off. Clearly, he had no idea what he was doing to me. Or did he? "What- what are you doing, Mr Miller?" I asked him with a shaky voice and watched that smirk slowly form on his face. "Recreating the scenario. Do what you did after this." He left my hand there and my eyes just went wide. When on earth did I have my hand over his abs? "I'm getting impatient. Do it or the offer expires." His words confused me more and more each time. "I touched your abs... I... I mean.. I touched you like this?" I asked him and he slowly laughed to himself. "You don't remember. Admit it." His voice was sharper yet deeper this time around, like he was getting frustrated. "I did. I was not in my right mind. I was... I was out of line. I promise that I will never do it again." I pleaded and he narrowed his eyes before he pushed my hand off his abs. I was definitely enjoying that, and really hoped he would forget that my hand was right there. "Since you forgot what happened, I am not accepting any apology from you. Thing is, would you still be sorry if you remembered everything?" He arched his brows and only made me die more inside. I was so desperate to hear more but how could I be okay after hearing it all? "Please tell me what happened." I finally begged and nibbled on my lip to contain my embarrassment. I assumed I would feel even more humiliated once he had told me everything that I did. What on earth could I have done after touching his abs? Did I kiss him? Don't tell my hand moved down to his.. No. No. It can't be. Absolutely not. Even if alcohol made me extremely brave, there is no way I could go that far. I wanted to scream at the thought of it but the only thing left to do was bite my lip hard and squeeze my hands into fists. "If you don't recall anything, then that night never happened. Let's leave it at that." He finally replied after looking at me so intensely for a good minute. "Just stop drinking. Got it?" He asked before he grabbed my chin like I was some little child and turned his back on me. Shit! Were they even done? I had to keep him here a little bit longer. "What about the snake?" I asked him as I grabbed his arm. He felt so warm, strangely warm. "So the snake was real? Where is it?" He asked me and I bit my lip again before lying. "In my room." I think that is where I said it was last time. "My parents aren't home. Destiny is with them at my aunt's." I told him and I swear I could see a smirk on his face if I squinted hard enough. "Okay. Let's go find the snake." He said and I just nodded my head before opening the door and leading him to my room. I had totally forgotten how messy it was. Walking in, the only thing I felt was embarrassment. "Don't mind the mess. I was looking for the snake and-" before I could even finish what I was saying, he started laughing. I actually think I just witnessed a genuine laugh from Anthony Miller. I swear I had never seen how perfect and straight his teeth were till today, because he really never laughs like this. At least not when I am around. "What's wrong?" I asked him and that smile left off from him laughing turned into a smirk before he took steps towards me. I slowly retreated, taking one step back each time he took one step forward. "Could have fooled me. You remember everything, don't you?" He asked me and I just swallowed hard before shaking my head. I felt my back hitting the wall, meaning I had nowhere else to go at this point. "I really can't tell if you are lying to me or not." His eyes pierced into mine like he was really trying to read my soul at this point. "I really don't remember." I admitted it very nervously, looking away from him. Those eyes made me feel all sorts of things. I could not keep looking at him or I would really give him a reason to punish me like I initially thought he would. I never assumed he would tell on me to my parents, but I did assume he would find his way to punish me. Maybe this was the punishment? No. Why would he be so lenient? "Then why did you lure me to your room,Daniella? Because there is no snake in this room." He questioned and of course there couldn't be a snake here. We do not have any snakes in this city. "It was a joke. I'm sorry if it wasn't funny. Okay, I'll get going." I ducked below his arm and ran out of the room, not caring to close up behind me before I ran straight to Celine. "You better be done because-" before I could even say anything else, I realised that she had been an expert about this. She had time to clean up, make sure the house smells good and even got dressed in her pyjamas. "You were brilliant! Now, go get changed and we will pretend we were about to have a pyjama party." She smiled widely at me and I just rolled my eyes at her. "What are we? Twelve or something?" I asked and she glared at me like a ferocious lion. "Go! Now!" I held my hands up in mock surrender before I turned around. "Fine, I will go." she doesn't even know that I need the escale anyways. Jokes on her.
