The way Josh looked at me always broke my heart. I mean, why did he have to look at me like I was the most precious thing in his life?

He had always been so lonely, even when I first started getting to know him, I knew he was lonely deep down because his relationship with his parents is not the best at all, but I never pitied him until today. I might actually be the best thing in his life, but I am a fraud because all I do is lie to him.

“well, umm, do you want to go for a drive before everyone gets here? “ He asked me with his beaming perfect smile.

“ So it is that obvious that I am tortured right now?” I asked him and he nodded his head.

“I know you too. Well, so yes to me it is obvious, but don't worry It won't be obvious to anyone else”. He admitted it to me and I just nodded my head.

“Okay, let's go, Indeed let's go.” I said to him before I followed him. “Wait, let me go get my bag and tell Celine that we will be gone for a little bit.”

I said to him and he let me go to Celine. I had to grab her from James’ arms and pull her into a corner just to be able to talk to her. Those two were always glued to each other, I couldn't believe they had actually managed to be the exact same way, exactly affectionate and all over each other after nearly three years. It would be our three year anniversary in two weeks time and I really had a feeling I had to end this before that happened.

Perhaps it was my chance to do it today. What if life was giving me the chance to do so? Why would he call me out for a drive? Before the party started, if he did not want to have some kind of talk with me? Perhaps he had actually noticed that I did not love him as much as he loves me.

Did I even love him? I had no idea but every single time he said it to me I said it back because yes, I did have some form of affection for him, but it was Nothing that could be stronger than the feelings I had for Anthony.

“ Josh and I will be going for a drive, but we'll be back before the party starts.” I said to her and Celine just nodded her head. “Okay Just be back on time then!” she said and I nodded my head before leaving.

“ I'll be wearing the black dress, by the way.” She stopped me before I actually walked out of the room.

“I Think I finally decided that the black dress is the best!” She said to me and I just Kept my opinion to myself because if I did suggest that she goes for the pink dress instead she would begin to have doubts if she was satisfied with the black dress and the black dress it would have to be.

“All right, that is exactly what I was thinking too.” I lied to her and she smiled before turning around and leaving “Okay, we can go now.” I said to Josh before holding his hand and walking to his car. He opened the door for me as he always did and as I stepped into the card, the guilt immediately washed over me. This time around I strapped my seatbelt on and he immediately looked at me strangely.

“ Since when do you do that for yourself? When I say you are the passenger princess, I actually mean it!” He said to me before he removed the seatbelt just to do it by himself.

“You are so extra.”

I said to him rolling my eyes playfully and he quickly Kissed me.

“ last night was so good. I almost want to take you again right here”. His heavy breathing confirmed exactly what he was saying.

“Oh, no.”

“No. No”, I immediately stopped him Before I Crossed my leg one over the other.

“You said we're going for a drive and that is exactly what we're going to do.” I said to him and he just slowly nodded his head.

“Ugh, fine, always making me work so hard for it!” He said and I smiled sheepishly at him.

My heart was already breaking just from looking at him I had no idea where he was taking me, but I had a feeling I had to break his heart tonight It would seem so heartless doing this on James's birthday on the night of his party that he has been excited for. but it really felt like I had to do it. It felt like there was absolutely no other chance that I would get to do this the right way In fact, if I waited for the right way I would probably be waiting forever and the longer that I did everything that I was doing to him Was the longer that it meant I would be hurting him and I did not want to hurt him any longer.

We made it to a park that I realized I'd never actually been to even though it was actually not even Far at all. We had only driven here for 40 minutes and It what Was right at dusk the lighting was very nice. There was a picnic already set up and I was immediately caught by surprise.

“ What is all of this?” I asked him and he slowly smirked at me.

“ proof that I'm the best boyfriend!” He said and I giggled nervously.

“I mean, when did you have time to set all of this up?” I asked him.

“Don’t you think this food has spoiled by now?” I had to add that question as well, and he just laughed before Confessing his little secret.

“Well, I paid people to do this for me and do it right on time. That's who I was texting while we were driving here, So everything is still fine And I covered the food, of course.” He admitted and I slowly smiled at him before hugging him. “Thank you, You really are the best”.

I said to him and right after we sat down and He began pouring some Champagne for us. I really felt like I could not hold it in any longer. I had to end This right now.

It was very urgent that I do so.

“Josh actually there's something I want to say to you”. I said to him and He nodded his head.

“ Yeah, right There's something I want to say to you too, and I want to go first because I might actually Explode if I don't say it right now. I was going to wait till we were done eating, but I can't hold it in.” He said to me and I was so confused.

“Can I go first?” I asked him and he quickly shook his head.

“Absolutely not, close your eyes”, he said to me and nervously, I shut both my eyes and took a deep breath

“Okay, what is actually going on?” I asked him and He held my hand. I was not even sure what was happening but once he asked me to open my eyes I was in absolute disbelief.

Why on earth was he on one knee with a ring box in his hand?
