The drive back to Frostholm was quiet. Outside the car windows, the landscape passed in the fading afternoon light. Mountain roads, pine slopes, the last of the autumn color on the lower hillsides. The same road she had come up on. The world looking identical to what it had been this morning. Everything else felt different. Sarah sat beside her.
